The Team Lead for Data Analytics Engineering & Reporting is accountable for managing the development and support of data pipelines, data exports, custom reports, and dashboards within the Data Analytics Team for the National Cardiovascular Data Registries (NCDR). Responsibilities include managing developers and development quality controls, identifying opportunities for improving data pipelines, troubleshooting data issues, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and optimizing processes. This role will drive key data projects and serve as a subject matter expert collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to provide technical guidance and promote innovative and cost-effective data-driven strategies that increase value to stakeholders. This role will drive key data projects and serve as a subject matter expert collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to provide technical guidance and promote innovative and cost-effective data-driven strategies that increase value to stakeholders.

This position is based in Washington, DC where we have a hybrid work environment (roughly 40% of the time in the office).   

Major Duties and Responsibilities: 

Technical Leadership

  • Manage development and deployment of customer deliverables (e.g. exports, user dashboards, custom reports).

  • Optimize data pipelines (Python scripts, SQL queries, SSIS packages) and leverage visualization tools (Python, PowerBI) for customer deliverables using the NCDR platform architecture (Common Data Model).

  • Perform ongoing data quality and integrity reviews (e.g. validations, code reviews) to ensure optimal product quality and accuracy.

  • Analyze problems and determine root causes.

  • Lead the transition of NCDR data export products to the cloud environment.

  • Troubleshoot, respond to, and fulfill analytical requests submitted by NCDR stakeholders.

  • Provide guidance on the NCDR Data Quality Program analytic reports.

  • Work with large and complex databases and recommend appropriate analytic solutions to solve for business needs.

  • Connect, import, and transform data sources for NCDR operational and business needs.

  • Support the design and development of analytic and automation solutions to query, mine, and analyze large data sets.

  • Monitor new analytic tools and emerging technologies to drive business goals.

Management Responsibilities

  • Effectively lead and motivate a team of SQL developers and data analysts by supervising, coaching, and supporting team members and fostering open communication and collaboration.

  • Assist with change management and efficiently manage data projects and timelines.

  • Ensure team members develop and maintain technical knowledge in specialized areas, remaining up to date on internal data updates, current trends, and best practices.

  • Collaborate with other data analytics Team Leaders to identify opportunities for team improvement, to determine staffing for projects, and to fulfill project deliverables.

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and drive execution of program deliverables. 

Administrative Tasks

  • Develop, refine and adhere to standard operating procedures and technical documentation for data export and custom analytics activities, including but not limited to data report plans, user dashboard guidelines, data dictionaries, and coding and testing plans.

  • Review and provide input for work documents such as proposals and specifications for external publication, as required periodically.

  • Complete all mandatory privacy and security training requirements and comply with ACC privacy and security policies.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of relevant work experience

  • Strong SQL (MS SQL preferred), data visualization (PowerBI, Tableau), and database development skills

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

  • Experience managing teams and large cross-functional projects

  • Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; ability to communicate with business as well as technical teams

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; familiarity with SharePoint software and version control software (e.g., Git)

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Advanced degree and/or experience working with health data

  • Ability to perform analysis on data sources and develop data stories

  • Ability to automate data pipelines and/or experience working with Fabric (or other cloud platform)

  • Familiarity with PHI data and privacy requirements

  • Familiarity with programming languages

Our salary ranges differ based on the cost of labor in the local market where the job will be performed. For this role in Washington, DC (and other high-cost of labor markets if applicable, including California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, New York, Washington) the target base salary range is: $120,000 - $140,000. The salary ranges for other locations in the US will vary based on the local labor market; ACC’s Recruitment Team will be able to provide more information to candidates during initial discussions.
