Our challenge
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with a strong understanding of SQL, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts to join our team. This role is perfect for someone who can combine technical knowledge with exceptional soft skills to analyze data, translate business needs into technical requirements, and collaborate effectively with both business stakeholders and technical teams. The ideal candidate will act as a bridge between business and technology, ensuring data-driven decisions align with organizational goals.
Additional Information
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Jacksonville, FL is $100k - $110k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Requirement Gathering & Analysis: Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs, gather requirements, and translate them into clear, actionable technical specifications for data-related projects.
- Data Analysis: Use SQL to query, analyze, and interpret data from various sources, providing actionable insights to support business decision-making.
- Data Integration Understanding: Work closely with data engineers to understand ETL processes and data flows, ensuring business requirements are met during data integration and transformation.
- Data Warehousing Knowledge: Apply knowledge of data warehousing concepts (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema, data modeling) to guide the design and optimization of data storage solutions that meet business needs.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project goals and deliverables.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of business requirements, data processes, and workflows.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve data-related processes, tools, and systems to better support business objectives.
Requirements:
You are:
- 70% Data Analyst with extensive SQL and 30% BA responsibilities
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, with exposure to SQL, ETL/pipelines, and data warehousing concepts.
Technical Knowledge:
- Proficiency in SQL for data querying and analysis.
- Understanding of ETL processes and tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, SSIS).
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema, data modeling).
Soft Skills:
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and build strong relationships across teams.
- Collaboration: Strong team player with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, developers, and business stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Creative and analytical thinker with the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and drive results.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Leadership: Ability to influence and guide stakeholders toward data-driven decisions without direct authority.
It would be great if you also had:
- Experience working with cloud-based data platforms
- Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools (e.g., JIRA).
- Understanding of reporting tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar is a plus.
