Compensation:

The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $101,300.00  to $168,900.00.  This position is eligible for participation in our
short-term incentive program in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan.


The range provided is not a guarantee of compensation.  The range reflects the potential base pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual base pay compensation will depend, in part, on factors such as geographic work location and relevant experience and skills.  The anticipated compensation range described above is subject to change and the compensation ultimately paid may be higher or lower than the range described above. 

Position Details:

The CSM Analytics Enablement team oversees the creation, production, and management of key metrics, data products, databases, and tools used to make business decisions and execute processes in the CSM and Services organizations (CSM). One of the team's primary missions is to enable analytics and reporting by centralizing and integrating high-quality, trusted corporate and 3rd party data in a performant and scalable cloud analytical platform before executing on that reporting.

 

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a substantial role in different areas of the CSM information architecture.  You will be to develop data pipelines to enable analytics and reporting from Grainger’s main data warehouse and from 3rd parties.  You will also help to redesign legacy data structures for business process management and enterprise reporting in new, flexible environments. 

 

You will report to the Sr Manager, Analytics Enablement. 

 

You will be based in either Lake Forest, IL with a Hybrid schedule of at least 3 days in the office.

 

You will:

  • Partner with stakeholders including data, design, product, and executive teams and assisting them with data-related technical issues
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes.
  • Lead the design and construction of data pipelines to Grainger’s data warehouse that provide critical data for MSM enterprise reporting and business continuity.
  • Enable analytics and reporting by centralizing, integrating and transforming high quality, large, complex data sets in a performant and scalable cloud analytical platform.

 

You have:

  • 5+ years of experience with Modern Data Engineering projects and practices: designing, building, and deploying scalable data pipelines
  • 3+ years of experience designing building deploying cloud native solutions
  • Experience with Databricks, AWS, SQL, Python, Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD, Git, familiarity with: Snowflake, DBT, Airflow
  • Develop data products/systems using large data sets to meet business and technical requirements
  • Experience partnering with internal departments to establish requirements
  • Familiarity with BI tools such as Tableau, PowerBI
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, information systems, or a related study or equivalent project-related experience
