Brief Job Overview

The Director, Insights Operations role is a supervisory position in the Strategic Insights (SI) department, part of the Legal, Strategy and People division at the U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP). This role is responsible for leading the Insights Operations function, USP’s “in-house research vendor,” with vision and consultative expertise. They will steward execution of research projects generate actionable and meaningful insights, ensuring that they are aligned with business needs and translate to systemic actions across the organization. They will also advocate for testing assumptions and exploring new avenues of insight through creative use of tools and analytical approaches, rooted in deep business acumen.

Key stakeholder partners include, but are not limited to, leadership for Regions & Program Operations (RPO), Global Science & Standards (GSS), Global External Affairs (GEA), Digital & Innovation (D&I), Global Health & Manufacturing Services (GHMS).

In this role at USP, you contribute to USP's public health mission of increasing equitable access to high-quality, safe medicine and improving global health through public standards and related programs. The Director, Insights Operations has the following responsibilities:

• 25 % Consult and lead strategic application of advanced marketing research tools and techniques to innovate new solutions for USP; advocate for data-driven decision making.
o Manage complex, high-level projects that integrate USP’s Qualtrics CX and EX platforms with its other customer assets (Salesforce and Adobe Analytics, etc.) to help decision-makers better understand stakeholders, customers, markets and trends, and employees through innovative techniques.
o Leverage advanced statistical analyses and business intelligence to support strategic, tactical and operational initiatives.
• 50 % Translate superior technical acumen to thought leadership and action by co-creating vision and impact of USP’s stakeholder and customer ecosystem.
o Build enterprise infrastructure and support organizational understanding of the USP’s customers and business environment, integrating operational and experiential data.
o Work with Strategy, Marketing, and Sales colleagues to determine prioritized needs for impact addressed by improved access to customer voice through the Salesforce platform.
• 25 % Lead the Insights Operations team.
o Serve as manager to a team located at multiple global sites, ensuring that employees are connected, trained and supported.
o Represent Strategic Insights with poise and professionalism, embracing diversity of thought as a strength.
o Ensure quality work is provided on-time and on-budget.
o Foster an environment of collaboration where employees are motivated to do their best work within the context of a team.

Who is USP Looking For?

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission, commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree strongly preferred. Preferred majors in market research, data science, business, or related social science discipline.
• Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in market research, insights, strategy, data science, consumer insights, or other relevant area. Prior experience in B2B, pharmaceutical, healthcare, biotech, dietary supplement, food or related, regulated industries is highly desired.
• Minimum of eight (8) years leading teams, preferably direct management.
• Minimum of three (3) years managing a hybrid and/or remote workforce; global, asynchronous direct management is highly desired.
• Advanced expertise with Qualtrics CX and EX platforms to design surveys and digital intercepts.
• Experience with data analytics tool use and integration with Qualtrics’ platform: Python, Adobe Analytics, Salesforce, Tableau, statistical software, etc.
• Storytelling fluency through compelling narrative and data visualization.
Strong business writing skills – evidence of succinct, distilled deliverables and attention to detail through thoroughness and accuracy.
• Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to present statistical information to non-statistically oriented audiences.
• Experience developing and leading global, asynchronous workflows.

Additional Desired Preferences

• Pharmaceutical industry knowledge from a business perspective.
• Experience working in a scientific organization.
• Multi-lingual – Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish preferred.
• Data visualization acumen.
• Familiarity with using AI to improve market insights data collection and analysis.
• Experience working with Talent Analytics, UKG, and HRIS data.
• Experience working in a data lake environment, integrating experiential data.

Compensation
Base Salary Range: USD $198,000.00 - $257,000.00 annually.
Target Annual Bonus: % Varies based on level of role.

Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate’s skill set, experience, qualifications, equity, and other job-related reasons.
