The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and innovative Business Intelligence team that supports strategic projects within Scotiabank’s Canadian Bank Analytics group. As the Manager, Strategic Initiatives, you will be working on projects that require data mining, analytical solutions, and the use of BI tools. In addition, they will solve a wide array of business problems across our customer base and product portfolio.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will: 

• Develop comprehensive dashboards, transform and modernize existing reports leveraging new data sources in GCP, that enable data driven decisions

• Synthesize data across multiple platforms to identify trends, patterns and correlations in the data and provide key insights and business recommendations

• Work with complex data, perform statistical analyses and build insightful visualizations in support of both our client and product teams

• Effectively communicate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and identify key drivers and metrics, and deliver high quality, high impact analytical solutions to a business problem

• Support ongoing BI projects including automation of data pipelines, development of forecasting models and consolidation and standardization of reports

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have: 

• Post-secondary education or Masters degree with a quantitative focus, such as statistics, applied mathematics, economics, computer science or engineering

• Multiple years of analytical focused work experience required, preferably within a financial, retail or consulting industry in a data analytics or business intelligence role

• Proficiency using BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau and Looker

• Experience with relational databases and solid SQL skills (SQL Server, DB2, MySQL)

• Experience with data analysis tools such as SAS , Python, R , or Bigquery

• Experience with automating tasks with Python, Docker or Airflow

• Familiarity with Hadoop Big Data ecosystem (Hive, Spark, Pig, Sqoop) an asset

• Familiarity with the Google Cloud ecosystem including Bigquery, Workstation or Vertex AI (Jupyter notebook)

• Strong business acumen, with the ability to understand business and financial models, key business drivers and performance metrics

• Self-motivated, strong quantitative skills, attention to detail, a high aptitude for problem solving and a natural interest in understanding customer behaviour
