Summary / Role Purpose
You will work as an engineering or computer science intern in the Ansys CFD business, contributing to the development and release of our best-in-class Ansys CFD products. The role is code development focused, and it’s a must that you are motivated to create and test high-quality software. You will have the opportunity to engage in all stages of planning, creation, and evolution, and work closely with our CFD team to deliver customers new features and capabilities. Development activities will primarily focus on R&D and development of fluid properties capability for modeling real fluids and mixtures of real fluids.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform R&D on real fluid mixing and vapor-liquid equilibrium solvers
- Writing code in Python and C/C++ using GitHub for CPU and GPU execution
- Building tests using testing frameworks such as pytest
- Write documentation using restructured text and Sphinx
- Provide regular updates of your progress to R&D leadership, presenting progress to colleagues in the Ansys CFD business.
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience
- Enrolled in a Ph.D. level engineering or physics program.
- Demonstrated background in the thermodynamics of real fluids. eg: experience with implementing cubic equations of state and the associated iterative algorithms to compute vapor-liquid equilibrium for pure components and mixtures
- Experience with a programming language such as Python or C++. For example, if you have some code you could share with us.
- A genuine interest in numerical algorithms, efficient data structures, software design concepts, and programming paradigms
Recommended Qualifications and Skills
- Experience with C++ programming for both CPU and GPU execution.
- Experience with training neural networks
- Demonstrated coding experience via sharing code with us. For instance, a GitHub repository that you have contributed to.
- Some knowledge of the Python ecosystem: Matplotlib, pandas and NumPy, TensorFlow
- Experience with CI/CD. For instance, knowledge of GitHub actions would be helpful.
