General Description:
The Manager of Decision Support will be responsible for supporting clinical, financial and operational leadership with required information for business decisions. Will lead a team of Decision Support and will provide costing information and decision support services and identify continuous improvement opportunities. The Manager of Decision Support will oversee cost accounting and statistical reporting and will develop, implement and monitor tools to keep track of the impact that the Decision Support team has had throughout the enterprise. The Decision Support function will play a large and impactful role in helping OU Health’s clinicians, executives and physicians understanding of analytics and data-driven decision making across clinical, financial and operational metrics. This position will have a high level of exposure to various executive across the health system in various parts of operations.
Essential Responsibilities:

- Lead and manage staff responsible for developing and maintaining analytical models, tools and ad hoc analyses to support organizational leaders in various strategic initiatives. Should mentor staff in decision-making about analytical methodologies, tools and approaches to business decisions.
- Lead complex analytical analyses and initiatives that supports the advancement of OU Health’s organizational mission, PACCT and impact on its patients across the care continuum.
- Provide complex analyses and recommendations regarding the delivery of data and insights to organizational leaders. This could range from analytical improvement analyses to dashboard design.
- Lead, hire, coach, train and evaluate the performance of the Decision Support team. Develops team to accomplish results through training, development, performance management and recognition.
- Work in conjunction with other analytical leaders to create and execute a standardized Decision Support analytical delivery cycle from start to finish that aligns with putting patient first and advancing OU Health’s strategic plan.
- Evaluate and assess metrics to track the team’s effectiveness and impacts. Review, monitor and communicate out the performance of the team to stakeholders or customers.
- Evangelize the utilization of analytics, by working with other analytics teams to design analytical solutions that solve business problems; including data warehousing, relational and dimensional logical data modeling.
- Direct the planning and preparation of future cost accounting analyses to aid management in financial decision making. Also, educate internal and external customers on the methodologies behind cost accounting data and appropriate usage.
- Manage operations of all decision support systems (i.e. Harris Analytics, potentially Vizient – Action OI/CHA, etc.) including supervising operations issues, vendor relationships/contracts and strategic direction.
- Manage the Decision Support team in accordance with the OU Health – Financial Services leadership team to ensure that the month end process is completed in an efficient manner.
- Work with leadership to evaluate and implement changes to weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual forecasts in key operational metrics that is utilized for executive level leadership reporting.
- Utilize cost accounting and patient financial data to drive and support enterprise planning of initiatives, projects and metrics for value-based care transformation.
- Work with system leadership to define a methodology for value-based care initiatives to assure reliable and improved performance across the care continuum.
- Utilize and train team on evidence-based and innovative approaches to improve population health and total cost of care of episodic care.
- Identify, recommend, and implement changes that will improve productivity or financial performance.
- As appropriate, partner with other analytics teams and other business units (Strategic Support, Strategy, Marketing, Quality, Supply Chain and etc.) on enterprise strategic initiatives.
- Troubleshoot analytical models or solutions problems and seek opportunities for improvement across the analytics teams. Work with other leaders and team to resolve bottlenecks and performance issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree (MBA, MHA or MPH) preferred
Experience: 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Extensive multi-specialization working knowledge over the following areas: Clinical Analysis, Business Development, Budget Analysis, Strategic Financial Planning, Cost Accounting, Managed Care and etc.. Should obtain ability to teach others and act as a departmental subject matter expert.
- Effective written and or communications, proven presentation experience and comfort with senior management audiences and effective facilitation skills with diverse groups.
- Exceptional stakeholder relationship skills, consensus building skills, and ability to establish effective working relationships in a matrix environment.
- Excellent organization and problem-solving skills, project management skills, ability to lead a team and ability to develop and implement efficient work processes in conflict oriented situations.
- Extensive knowledge to think creatively and strategically, identify key issues, opportunities, and value drivers and effectively translate insights into an appropriate forecast framework to drive business decisions.
- Ability to resolve issues quickly and make decisions that meet health systems objectives, in a collaborative patient first culture.
- Passionate about using data to inform decision making and possess the curiosity to research and solve complex problems involving data and business analytics.
- Experience using Tableau or other reporting tools for data visualization or analysis.
- Experience using analytical programming languages (SQL/Python/R and etc.). SQL is required.
- Working knowledge of business intelligence, decision science, forecasting and other forms of analytics.
- Familiar with hospital operations.
- Working knowledge in various hospital data domains
- High level knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Possess analytical skills to conduct comparative analysis.
- Ability to gather rapport from management as part of the implementation of the operational analytics tool.
- Self-starter, project management, data evangelist, data analytics experience and team player.
