AltaGas - Data Governance Specialist
Playing a key role in supporting and managing data as a strategic asset within Midstream division. Develop and implement data standards, policies, and procedures to ensure the quality, availability, integrity, and security of data assets. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data governance principles, data management, and regulatory requirements.
You will:
- Support the implementation and sustainment of Data Governance development (policy, procedure, guides etc) within Midstream and/or additional areas of the business as required
- Participate in the development and support of data governance and management strategies, roadmaps, projects and maturity plans.
- Monitor compliance with data governance policies and standards, and report on data governance metrics and KPIs. Assist in the resolution of data-related issues and conflicts, serving as a liaison between business and IT teams
- Support and provide direction the management and sustainment Midstream data assets, ensuring data integrity and availability.
- Collaborate with various teams (compliance, IT, business) to mature data standards and ensure adherence to established data governance practices that enhance data quality and trust in the data. Ensure alignment with corporate and IT governance.
- Support the development of Master and Metadata Management: Assist in creating and implementing strategies for master data and metadata management to ensure data consistency, accuracy, and accessibility across the business.
- Assist in implementing and supporting data management platform activities -enable data catalogues, data quality, and data management capabilities
- Participate in the development and creation of data products, models and architecture to support data governance and data management initiatives. Identify business requirements for standardization, management and sustainment activities.
- Support, develop and maintain data dictionaries, data lineage, data flow documentation and other data related documentation as required
- Support and provide direction the management and sustainment Midstream data assets, ensuring data integrity and availability.
- Support, monitor and resolve data governance-related issues.
- Support Organizational Change Management: train and educate the organization on the importance of data governance, data quality, data roles (data owners, stewards, custodians etc), and other data-related management and best practices
You have:
- Bachelor's Degree Data Science, Computer Science, Information Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred. required
- 5+ Years Oil and gas industry knowledge/experience in the areas of: data analytics, data use, data-related roles, with technical acumen in data governance and management functions/principles, data quality, master/metadata, and data integration required
- 5+ Years Experience in data profiling, cleansing, and enrichment techniques to ensure high data quality standards. Experience with managing enterprise data assets and ensuring data integrity and availability within its lifecycle required
- 3+ Years Balanced background of the business use and technical dimensions/requirements of data. Leveraging and understanding data and data lineage to drive business decisions using data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) or data governance/management tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Unified Catalogue, SAP) required
- Data governance or data management certifications (e.g., CDMP) are considered beneficial. preferred
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data issues and develop effective solutions.
- Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to align data governance initiatives with business objectives and drive strategic data management goals.
