Walmart International is seeking a Senior Manager of Data Science to lead and innovate in Search & Personalization across our global markets. This role will drive the development of cutting-edge AI and machine learning solutions that enhance product discovery, search relevance, and personalized customer experiences. As a key leader, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable, high-impact solutions that optimize business performance and improve customer engagement.

About the Team

The Search & Personalization team plays a critical role in shaping how customers interact with Walmart's digital platforms across international markets. Our mission is to develop state-of-the-art machine learning models that power highly relevant search experiences and personalized recommendations at scale. We work at the intersection of AI, engineering, and product innovation to create intelligent systems that adapt to customer preferences, improve discoverability, and drive seamless shopping experiences.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and mentor a team of data scientists and ML engineers to develop search ranking algorithms, personalization models, and recommendation systems tailored for Walmart’s international markets.
  • Design and implement machine learning models for query understanding, ranking, and personalization to enhance customer engagement and conversion.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to build and deploy scalable AI-driven solutions.
  • Develop A/B testing frameworks and experimentation strategies to optimize model performance and measure impact.
  • Partner with product and business teams to align AI strategies with market-specific goals and customer behaviors.
  • Drive innovation in generative AI and LLMs to enhance search relevance and personalization.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends in AI, machine learning, and information retrieval to continuously improve Walmart's global search and personalization capabilities.

What You'll Bring

  • 7+ years of experience in data science, with a strong focus on search, personalization, or recommender systems.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience, managing and mentoring data science teams.
  • Expertise in machine learning, deep learning, NLP, and information retrieval techniques.
  • Proficiency in Python, Spark, and ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
  • Strong understanding of ML system design principles, including scalability, real-time inference, model retraining pipelines, and MLOps best practices.
  • Experience with A/B testing, causal inference, and experimentation in large-scale consumer environments.
  • Ability to solve multilingual search and personalization challenges across global markets.
  • Strong communication skills to influence stakeholders and drive AI-driven decision-making at scale.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00-$286,000.00

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 3: 7 years' experience in an analytics or related field.
