Why is this role important
This role is key to supporting the continuous optimization of our fraud detection strategies, ensuring a balance between minimizing fraud losses and providing a smooth customer experience. The student will work on high-impact projects that evaluate and refine our fraud detection rules, operations, and performance metrics. By leveraging data analysis and programming skills, the role will help assess the effectiveness of current fraud controls and provide insights to enhance operational efficiency and client satisfaction.
What you'll do
- Analyze fraud detection rules and assess their effectiveness in reducing fraud while minimizing customer friction.
- Collaborate with the team to identify areas where operational efficiencies can be improved, focusing on balancing fraud prevention and customer experience.
- Develop and maintain automated reporting solutions using SQL, Python, BigQuery, and SAS to monitor fraud detection performance and operational metrics.
- Work on projects aimed at optimizing alert management, including analyzing alert volumes and developing strategies to meet service level agreements (SLAs) while minimizing unnecessary disruptions.
- Evaluate the impact of fraud detection strategies on both operational expenses and customer experience, identifying opportunities to refine rules and processes.
- Assist in the development of data-driven solutions to ensure synchronization between fraud detection systems and operational processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align fraud prevention strategies with broader business objectives.
What you bring
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a data analysis / financial modeling / data mining role.
- Post-Secondary Degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative field preferred (Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research)
- Advanced knowledge of programming language is preferred (SAS, SQL, Python, R, Oracle).
- Working knowledge of Google Cloud Storage/BigQuery or equivalent cloud-based data.
- Knowledge of Tableau (Desktop and Server)
- Experience with Microsoft Programs - Excel Required; PowerPoint, Visio, Word, Outlook is an asset
- Experience with systems and change management is an asset (TSYS).
