VML Luxembourg is one of the leading Amazon consulting agencies in Europe. The opportunity:

We are currently looking for a Data Scientist to help us develop new data-focused products that generate value-added benefits for our clients and improve our internal efficiency. As a Data Scientist, you will play a key role in leveraging best-in-class data modeling and analytics to support and collaborate with a team of PPC Specialists and Programmatic Specialists to drive profitable sales growth for our clients. 

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop an exciting career in a dynamic and fast-growing digital marketing company. Additionally, experience with Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM) is considered a strong plus, allowing us to enhance our strategic decision-making capabilities.

What you’ll be doing:

Data Science & Predictive Modeling: 

  • Apply statistical techniques, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization methods to uncover patterns, trends, and correlations.
  • Develop predictive models to forecast future outcomes, such as customer behavior, sales trends, or market demand.
  • Write automation scripts to process and analyze data efficiently, improving workflows and reducing manual tasks.
  • Develop and implement advanced time series forecasting, recommendation engines, and budget forecasting models.

Amazon Marketing Cloud & Retail Media Data: 

  • Work with event-level datasets provided by Amazon to optimize Retail Commerce & Media strategies.
  • Define and integrate new SQL data models into our business processes, enhancing marketing strategies and consulting capabilities.
  • Stay ahead of the latest trends in retail media, helping our enterprise clients gain a strategic advantage.

Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM) - Optional: 

  • Experience or interest in Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM) is a plus.
  • Contribute to the development of MMM methodologies to optimize media budget allocation across various channels.
  • Support model calibration using first-party data, sales performance metrics, and marketing effectiveness indicators.

What we want from you:

Technical Expertise: 

  • Python Proficiency: Strong experience in data transformation, analysis, scripting, and automation. Hands-on experience with ETL, machine learning, and optimization techniques.
  • Machine Learning Expertise: Solid understanding of machine learning techniques, including model development, training, and evaluation. Experience with AWS SageMaker and Vertex AI is highly valued.
  • Strong SQL & Data Warehouse Skills: Expert knowledge in SQL for defining new event-level data models is a must. Previous experience with dbt (Data Build Tool) or alternative tools for data transformation is considered a big plus.

Industry Experience & Interest: 

  • Media and/or Retail Experience: Prior experience in e-commerce, retail media, or digital advertising is a strong plus.
  • Generative AI Interest: Interest in generative AI solutions and training techniques to accelerate data analytics.
  • Marketing Mix Modeling (Optional): Familiarity with MMM frameworks is a strong advantage but not required.

Work Experience & Other Requirements: 

  • Extensive experience in data science or an engineering role with strong data science exposure.
  • Fluency in English (additional languages are a plus).
  • EU working permit is required.
