Xometry is seeking a Senior Data Science to join our Data Science team. This person will develop cost prediction models, leverage data to solve complex business challenges, and work closely with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs and deliver impactful solutions. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of data science methodologies, strong statistical expertise, and proficiency in machine learning algorithms. This is a 1-year contract with the potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Prediction Modeling: Develop and implement advanced cost prediction models that accurately forecast costs associated with custom manufacturing.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Analyze existing algorithms for accuracy and performance, provide recommendations for optimization, and update production code as necessary.
  • Problem Solving: Apply data science expertise to tackle complex business problems, providing innovative solutions that improve efficiency and drive growth. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Product, and Business, to understand their data needs and deliver impactful solutions.
  • Best Practises: Implement robust data science methodologies, emphasizing best practices in code reproducibility, version control, and model deployment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: A bachelor’s degree is required; Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field is highly preferred. 
  • Experience: 
    • 5+ years of experience in data science or a similar role, with a proven track record of success.
    • Experience with pricing algorithms and technology-driven product development.
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and manage shifting priorities effectively.
  • Technical Skills: 
    • Proficiency in Python or R, SQL, and machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow). 
    • Knowledge of scientific software principles, including version control, code reproducibility, and deployment practices.
  • Statistical Expertise: Strong understanding of statistical concepts and their application to real-world problems.
  • Business Acumen: Ability to translate data-driven insights into actionable business recommendations.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Problem-Solving: Creative problem-solving skills and a passion for finding innovative solutions.
  • Additional Requirement: Must be able to work core hours aligned with US Eastern Time (GMT-5).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Manufacturing or Logistics Industry: Familiarity with the unique challenges and opportunities within these industries.
  • Cloud Computing: Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
