As our Senior Data Engineer, Data Analytics, you will leverage your advanced expertise in data analytics strategies, technologies, processes, systems, and methodologies to propel our university towards its visionary data-driven future. Your role will encompass the design, construction, testing, and deployment of robust data integration, transformation, modelling, and curation solutions that underpin critical use cases. You will
- help shape and deliver an innovative data analytics roadmap, enhancing our ability to use data responsibly in pursuit of strategic goals;
- bring your technical and business expertise to modernise data analytics functions, working within a collaborative model in our dynamic and diverse environment;
- partner with an external vendor in a hybrid model to ensure smooth operations and the successful delivery of data engineering projects, all while fostering knowledge transfer to strengthen our internal team; and
- work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate internal and external data sources, creating a unified and comprehensive view of our organisation’s data.
About you
You’re a skilled data engineer who thrives on designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable data solutions that drive forward-thinking analytics. With your technical expertise, you're able to transform complex data into actionable insights, ensuring seamless integration across diverse systems. You're passionate about collaborating with teams, both internal and external, to deliver on the data analytics roadmap, meeting deadlines, quality standards, and driving innovation. Your knowledge of Microsoft’s suite of products, combined with your commitment to data security, ensures the systems you build are reliable, secure, and scalable. You will possess:
- Solid technical expertise in data engineering, integration, and architecture, with hands-on experience in data modelling, ETL, data warehousing, and building data pipelines.
- Proficiency in SQL and programming languages like Python or R, with a strong grasp of data-centric languages and tools.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and effectively convey complex ideas to stakeholders at all levels, both written and verbally.
- Strong leadership and project management abilities, with the ability to problem solve and balance competing resources and priorities.
- Experience with data governance, cataloguing, quality, security, and privacy best practices and regulations.
- A solid understanding of machine learning and data mining concepts and techniques.
- Familiarity with data visualisation tools like Power BI or Tableau; proficiency in Microsoft Azure is highly desirable.
