The Keyrus UK team is expanding rapidly. We require a Senior Data Engineer to assist on a multi-year global Data programme for a strategic Banking client.


Salary range: 65-85K£

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable, high-performance data pipelines using Python, SQL, and Snowflake for large-scale data processing.
  • Drive the implementation of robust ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data into the Snowflake data warehouse, ensuring high data quality and accuracy.
  • Architect and optimize data models, tables, and database structures within Snowflake, aligning with business and analytical requirements.
  • Develop advanced SQL queries for efficient data extraction and ensure the performance of data warehouse operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders, to deliver data-driven solutions.
  • Oversee performance tuning of SQL queries, data models, and data pipelines to ensure scalability and efficiency.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and address performance bottlenecks in the data pipeline and database systems.
  • Integrate data from multiple sources into Snowflake with a focus on data integrity and accuracy.
  • Implement data quality checks, monitoring mechanisms, and validation processes to guarantee data reliability.
  • Support data governance and security practices, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies in data engineering and bring forward innovations such as Databricks when applicable.


What we're looking for in our applicants:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, ideally in the insurance or finance sector.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python for data manipulation, scripting, and automation tasks.
  • Strong, proven experience in SQL for data modelling, querying, and optimizing database performance.
  • Expertise with Snowflake features including Streams, Tasks, DAG, Data Shares, UDFs, Time Travel, etc.
  • Extensive experience in Snowflake architecture, including data warehouse implementation and management.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, AzureGCP, and other leading data warehousing technologies.
  • Knowledge of Databricks is a plus, with an ability to leverage its capabilities for advanced data engineering solutions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams across departments.
