About the role
Kraken Analytics are the team who lead on data and analytics products, workflows and analyses in the Kraken world. We are the data support network for both clients and internal teams who need help getting the most out of their data, and need focused guidance around how to achieve their reporting goals. We are responsible for building and maintaining core datasets for every Kraken instance that can be used to quickly and efficiently answer a wide range of demands, measure performance, and ensure consistency across clients and markets.
Industry is at the beating heart of the business for Kraken's clients, with hundreds of thousands of messages and processes occurring every day. Your focus will be on understanding how well we're enabling our clients to interact with their respective markets, defining metrics and benchmarks for success, and working with stakeholders across the business and tech teams to improve their products.

• Databricks Delta Lake for data lake and warehouse storage and querying
• DBT(™) for data modelling and transformations
• Python as main scripting language
• Airflow for task scheduling
• Kubernetes for orchestration 
• Github, Circle CI for version control, deployment and monitoring

You’ll

• Become a subject matter expert on the Kraken data model across your regions as well as the application as a whole
• Lead on developing key reporting and metrics focused around industry communications and processes
• Build, maintain and assure reports for senior Kraken management and external clients
• Be exposed to new technologies and tools, and receive guidance on developing your skills
• Build and maintain dashboards and data apps for senior stakeholders
• Build core datasets capable of answering key business questions
• Contribute to the development of the Kraken Analytics team
• Work on strategic projects end to end
• Respond to client queries about Kraken's data model
• Work closely with a broad range of teams at Kraken
• Develop your engineering skills

What you'll have

• We’re looking for someone who combines industry knowledge and experience with a passion for working with data. The ideal candidate will be:


• Skilled in Data and Analytics: Strong background in data analysis and a deep understanding of key concepts.
• Industry Knowledge: Comfortable with energy, utilities, and other relevant sectors, with the ability to quickly adapt to new domains.
• Tech-Savvy & Eager to Learn: Quick to learn new technologies and processes, with an enthusiasm for growing your skill set.
• Proficient in DBT and SQL: Highly skilled in DBT and SQL, able to manage large, complex datasets while keeping the bigger picture in mind.
• Experience with Data Pipelines: Proven track record in building data pipelines and collaborating with engineering teams.
• Curious & Self-Driven: You approach challenges with curiosity and resourcefulness, independently seeking solutions when faced with new problems.
• Data Literate & Numerate: Able to make sense of large volumes of data and craft coherent, insightful stories from it.
• Strong Communicator: Skilled at explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical teams in a clear and understandable way. Fluency in English
• Technical Expertise: Experience with key technologies, such as:A scripting language (preferably Python)Writing efficient and performant SQL queriesWorking in a modern cloud data warehouse environmentCollaborating on codebases using GitFront-end/dashboarding experience
