Department/Role at Udhyam:
The Data Analytics & Process Excellence (DAPrE) team plays a crucial role in strengthening data collection, analysis, and governance to drive real-time decision-making and operational efficiency. Our work ensures that teams have access to the right data at the right time, processes are streamlined for efficiency, and insights are actionable to drive data-informed decision-making and continuous operational improvement.
The Data Analytics & Governance Principal / Senior Specialist will be responsible for designing and developing data access tools, analytics models, and governance systems to improve Udhyam’s Shiksha program implementation. This role will directly contribute to enhancing transparency, empowering program teams, and optimizing operational processes.
The person in this role will work closely with Shiksha Ops, Tech, M&E and Product teams to integrate data-driven decision-making into program execution and provide actionable insights that improve student engagement, teacher support, and program scalability.
Roles & Responsibilities:
I. Data & Tools Development
Design and build data access tools for seamless retrieval, visualization, and analysis of key program data points.
Develop analytics models to anticipate trends in student engagement, program adoption, and emerging risk factors
Implement role-based access control (RBAC) for data security, ensuring Shiksha teams can access relevant insights with ease.
II. Strengthening Data Collection & Insights
Enhance data collection tools and processes for Shiksha programs, ensuring data accuracy and usability.
Integrate qualitative insights (e.g., teacher feedback, student reflections) with quantitative metrics for real-time decision-making.
Establish automated data validation and anomaly detection systems.
III. Democratizing Data Access
Lead development of interactive dashboards and self-service analytics tools for Shiksha teams and leadership.
Work with the Tech team to automate data pipelines and reporting frameworks.
Drive data transparency initiatives to ensure teams have access to the right information when needed.
IV. Improving Data Governance
Establish best practices for data quality, governance, and compliance.
Implement metadata management and data lineage tracking for program data.
Align data workflows with Udhyam’s impact measurement frameworks.
V. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Optimization
Work closely with Shiksha Ops, Tech, M&E and Product teams to ensure data-driven program improvements.
Identify operational inefficiencies and develop process automation solutions.
Translate data insights into actionable strategies for program managers and state teams.
Experience, Skills & Mindsets
Experience:
Minimum 1.5 years of experience at Udhyam and overall experience of 6-10 years
Preferably, the candidate should have held roles where they have worked extensively with data, can demonstrate how they have leveraged data to inform decisions and have designed or built data systems, dashboards, or analytical tools to improve processes and insights.
Familiarity with Shiksha data collection processes
Exposure to qualitative insights analysis and experience in developing data-backed intervention strategies.
Technical Skills:
Must-have:
Experience in designing and conceptualizing dashboards, with an understanding of how data is structured and used for decision-making.
Experience collaborating to execute data and dashboard projects, ensuring smooth implementation.
Understanding of data automation and workflows, with experience in structuring data collection and processing systems for program insights.
Good-to-have:
Experience in data processing, analysis, and visualization, along with familiarity with new tools.
Exposure to machine learning, predictive analytics, and NLP.
Familiarity with data governance principles, role-based access control (RBAC), and metadata management, with an understanding of their application in ensuring data quality and security
Understanding of ETL pipelines, data automation, and cloud-based data solutions.
