IT Intern - Remote

The Mayo Clinic Cloud Embedded Engineering  team is seeking a highly motivated IT Intern. In this role you will build and manage data pipelines and AI/ML models as part of a team deploying AI and Machine Learning solutions derived from Mayo Clinic’s AI Innovation Hub. Individuals with experience in AI/ML, healthcare data, and demonstrated skill leveraging cloud platforms are strongly desired.   

The primary purpose of the Internship is to provide an intern with relevant field experiences in their chosen field of study. One or more mentors will be assigned to the intern to provide instruction, guidance and to assess performance. The intern is responsible for observing the functions and processes of the assigned work unit. In addition, the intern may be given selected work assignments to reinforce the learning experience, to assess the performance levels and to provide benefit to the work unit. The intern will be responsible for completing all internship-related assignments and reports for both Mayo and the participating educational facility. The duration and timing of the internship will be arranged with the intern.

The incumbent must be enrolled in a bachelors, masters or graduate degree program from a college or university. Typically, this internship would occur after the student has taken most of the courses required by the degree program. Where applicable - the degree program must require an internship as a graduation requirement (or offer as a credit option).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with large, complex, and heterogeneous data sets (healthcare preferred) 
• Strong knowledge of SQL and Python 
• Familiarity with best practices in data engineering, data science, and MLOps communities. 
• Strong curiosity in AI/ML techniques and frameworks, such as deep learning, natural language processing, and Generative AI, and familiarity with tools like TensorFlow or PyTorch 
• Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure and data engineering tools.
• Familiarity with AI/ML techniques and frameworks. 
• Experience with distributed systems, storage systems, and databases 
• Experience with Agile software development techniques. 
• Adept at working collaboratively within a team environment to accomplish goals 
• Familiarity with AI/ML techniques and frameworks. 
• Familiarity with best practices in data engineering, data science, and MLOps communities. 
• Strong curiosity in AI/ML techniques and frameworks, such as deep learning, natural language processing, and Generative AI, and familiarity with tools like TensorFlow or PyTorch
