Join the Microsoft AI Engineering Systems team and help us deliver innovative world-class metrics, tools, and processes to enable engineers to be more productive, shipping faster but also safely and securely. We build and evolve metrics, tools and process to enable engineers working on Consumer Copilot, Bing, Ads, Windows News Feeds, Edge New Tab Page, etc. to be as productive as possible. We are looking for technical program managers who are passionate to work on engineering systems, such as source control, build and release pipelines, package management, and work items tracking, using Azure and cutting-edge technologies like SLMs/LLMs, .Net core, React JS, Databases etc. You will have the opportunity to solve interesting challenges in engineering systems at scale, continually improving the engineer experience across a large organization. Bing, Copilot, Edge and Windows news feeds serve billions of transactions via services hosted on hundreds of thousands of servers across the world. You will learn about these large-scale distributed systems and contribute to making working on them better. As a Technical Program Manager - Microsoft AI Engineering Systems in the team, you need to build tools, processes and metrics to help partners across Microsoft AI build their products. You will work with Software Engineering to design technical engineering systems solutions. You’ll also identify risks and propose data-based mitigations. You’ll define success criteria as you collaborate with others to implement features for cross-functional projects. You’ll coordinate and ensure alignment across orgs. You will deliver on roadmaps for feature groups, track project schedules, develop staging and implementation, and stay updated with governance programs. You will drive continuous improvements by validating use cases and partnering with others to collect metrics. This role is in Redmond, WA and allows for up to 50% work from home.

Responsibilities

  • You will partner with Software and Hardware Engineering to design technical solutions across feature areas. You’ll also identify risks and propose data-based mitigations.
  • You’ll define success criteria and create relationships for implementing features for complex cross-functional projects. You’ll coordinate and ensure alignment across organizations.
  • You will deliver on roadmap for multiple feature groups, track project schedules, develop staging and implementation plan, and manage governance programs.
  • You will drive continuous improvements by validating use cases and writing test cases from scratch. You’ll also lead teams to partner with other departments to collect performance metrics, drive customer support, and lead direct customer engagements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects. 
  • 2+ years of experience in software development project management. 

Other Requirements:

 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis OR product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
  • 1+ year(s) working in an engineering systems role, managing source control, work item management, software packaging or software development systems security. 

 

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
