As a Senior Applied Scientist in Generative AI, you will be instrumental to lift Nokia Standards' Generative AI work to a new level. You will create the foundations for harnessing the potential of Large Language Models and Generative AI in standardization work and in 6G. You'll be a crucial member of a world-class team, applying the latest advances in Generative AI, LLMs, and agentic AI to create and deploy state of the art solutions for business-critical task. - Apply and enhance state-of-the-art generative models for various tasks related to telecommunication and standardization, including but not limited to network optimization, predictive maintenance, automated troubleshooting, and personalized user experiences.
- Drive innovation in generative AI applications, identifying novel use cases in telecommunications and exploring creative solutions to tackle complex industry challenges.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, including product managers, engineers, researchers, and business leaders, to translate business needs into innovative, scalable, and impactful generative AI solutions.
- Conduct cutting-edge research to improve the performance, efficiency, scalability, and robustness of generative models, particularly under real-world conditions and diverse telecommunication datasets.
- Develop and implement evaluation metrics and frameworks to measure the success, reliability, and impact of generative models, ensuring alignment with business goals and user requirements.
- Design and oversee deployment pipelines for generative AI systems, ensuring seamless integration into existing workflows and systems while adhering to industry standards and best practices.
- Stay up to date on the latest advancements in generative AI research, including deep learning architectures, model compression, and transfer learning, and translate these advancements into practical applications within the telecommunications domain.
- Lead and mentor a team of AI researchers and engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and technical excellence.
- Establish partnerships with academia, industry peers, and technology vendors to leverage external expertise and tools for advancing generative AI applications.
- Promote ethical AI practices, ensuring transparency, fairness, and bias mitigation in generative model development and deployment.
- Evangelize benefits and best practices of GenAI-augmented workflows and promote adoption of GenAI tools into the organization.
- Actively contribute to the research community, publishing papers, presenting at conferences, and sharing insights and advancements in generative AI to establish the company as a leader in the field.
- Define and align the strategic roadmap for generative AI initiatives, ensuring they support the company’s long-term vision and competitive edge in telecommunications.
- Evaluate and integrate third-party generative AI tools and frameworks, assessing their applicability and alignment with business objectives.
Lead initiatives to scale generative AI solutions, optimizing for resource efficiency, operational excellence, and adaptability across diverse use cases.
- PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems, Machine Learning, or a related field with a strong focus on AI research and development.
- Proven expertise in deep learning architectures and machine learning algorithms, with the ability to guide teams in designing, implementing, and optimizing innovative solutions for complex challenges.
- Deep understanding and capability to enhance and adapt Large Neural Network Models for generative tasks, particularly those based on advanced transformer architectures and their evolution, with a focus on scalability and performance in industry-specific applications.
- Extensive hands-on experience in research and development, including training and fine-tuning generative AI models, with a demonstrated ability to achieve state-of-the-art performance for real-world, large-scale applications in agentic and telecommunication-centric workloads.
- Strong leadership in mentoring and fostering technical excellence, with a proven ability to build, guide, and inspire high-performing technical teams to push the boundaries of generative AI.
- Exceptional programming skills in Python, with advanced proficiency in frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, and other relevant libraries, as well as expertise in agent-based Generative AI frameworks and toolsets.
- Experience with large-scale datasets, including the design and implementation of efficient data pipelines, preprocessing workflows, and distributed training setups.
- Advanced problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a track record of navigating complex technical challenges and driving innovation in high-pressure environments.
- Extensive knowledge of telecommunications systems and data flows, with the ability to bridge technical and domain expertise to deliver transformative solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to stay ahead of industry trends, translating the latest advancements in generative AI research into practical, scalable applications that align with business objectives.
- Curiosity and a pioneering research spirit, with a passion for exploring uncharted territories in generative AI and expanding the boundaries of known technology.
- Experience integrating generative AI into production environments, including performance optimization, model lifecycle management, and system reliability in live settings.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, enabling seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams and the articulation of technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- A strong commitment to ethical AI practices, with expertise in identifying and mitigating potential biases in generative models and ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability in AI solutions.
- Proven ability to balance technical leadership with strategic vision, aligning generative AI initiatives with long-term organizational goals and market opportunities.
