About Team:
PICO's imaging team is looking for a passionate and versatile imaging expert to work on next generation imaging algorithms that will deliver the top visual experience across PICO VR/MR/AR products, from camera to display. The ideal candidate specializes in imaging algorithm development with a deep understanding of camera and display optical and digital imaging chains, and will play a key role in delivering the MR video see-through and display experiences with the best image quality and efficiency. This role will also lead the definition and execution of technological and productization roadmap in imaging to shape the future of imaging technologies and their applications in VR/MR/AR products.

Responsibilities
- Prototype, develop, and deliver novel ISP, 3A, graphics and display algorithms with high image quality and high efficiency.
- Research and develop next generation human perception motivated algorithms, features, and new experiences, for camera and rendering to display pipelines of VR/MR/AR products.
- Lead camera and display imaging systems new feature development, productization, and system specification, through software prototyping, simulation, and image quality characterization.
- Provide leadership and knowledge of imaging systems and algorithms (including cutting-edge capturing, rendering, display processing technologies) and drive cross-functional efforts, including but not limited to the areas of optics, module, software, silicon IP, etc. to push the limit of system image quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- Advanced degree in CS, ECE, Imaging Science, Color Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years experience (inclusive of graduate school research experience) in imaging algorithm development, image processing, or computer graphics.
- Deep understanding of camera sensors, optics, and image signal processing of mobile imaging systems, including ISP and software pipelines.
- Hands-on experience and deep understanding of hardware and software imaging algorithms such as machine learning and deep learning based imaging algorithms, denoising, 3A, HDR, super-resolution, computational photography, and computer vision algorithms.
- Proficient in C++ and GPU Shader Languages (HLSL/GLSL, Metal Shaders) and one of the scripting languages such as Python or MATLAB. Familiar with rendering and display pipelines.
- Direct experience in camera or display image processing feature development from concept to mass production and familiar with software and hardware architecture, efficiency optimizations and tradeoffs.

Preferred Qualifications
- Deep understanding and direct experience in VR/AR/MR capturing or rendering to display pipeline and strong math skills is a big plus.
- Experience influencing silicon vendors in the area of imaging is a plus.
- Hands on experience of imaging system metrology is a plus.
- Deep understanding of image quality metrics and human visual system is a plus.
- Experience with Unity and Android development is a plus.

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (Annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $194000 - $410000 annually.​

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.​

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).​
