The Work
We are looking for a hands-on Business Intelligence lead with a strong background & proven ability to ensure data availability for the advanced analytics organization. This role demands a deep understanding of scalable & high performing data solutions and extensive experience in partnering with the technology organization to ensure data availability for EQ bank. The incumbent will require strong collaboration and influencing skills to partner with their counterparts in technology to establish service level understandings and deliver key data enablement and tooling projects to help in our data and advanced analytics transformation journey.  
As a core member of Insights and Analytics team, this role will work with the head of Insights and Analytics and collaborate with Enterprise Data, to enable real-time reporting, business analytics, and advanced data science workflows for financial analysts, data scientists, and business leaders. The incumbent will also be accountable for automated business intelligence and dashboarding for EQ Bank.  They will own the product dashboard strategy, roadmap, creation and evolution of a full suite of products and executive reporting that powers our real-time, data-driven decision-making process. If you are a seasoned BI engineer, who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and learning the nuances of finance and product data, this role is tailor-made for you. 

Own Product/Exec Dashboards and Self-Serve Data Strategy – (SME for dashboards) (60%)

  • Build holistic dashboarding strategy and roadmap which includes required upgrade/ maintenance of existing dashboards & roadmap for new dashboard to support product analytics. 
  • Enhance our dashboards to support Product, Strategy and Marketing teams to uncover level 2 insights independently. 
  • Perform deep dive analyses, when more robust analysis beyond dashboard data is needed. 
  • Identify and build out other self-serve tools that will empower business team members to become more data-driven with their strategies. 

Data strategy for EQ Bank (30%)

  • Partner with head of Insights and Analyticsto drive the data acquisition strategy, identifying all missing data elements and prioritizing based on use cases. 
  • Partner with Tech & Engineering team on projects to acquire missing data elements in our data environment, ensuring data quality and standards are met. 
  • Work with other members of DIA team to maximize use of acquired data. 
  • Partner with technology team to develop and execute a roadmap for migration of all essential data to “Azure Fabric”. 

Data Tooling strategy for EQ Bank (10%)

  • Take the lead and collaborate with the head of Insights and Analytics, Enterprise Data and Cloud Ops to develop a data tooling strategy and roadmap for EQ Bank, including a prioritization framework for sequencing. 
  • Partner with head of Insights and Analytics to build a compelling ‘business case’ for the key tools identified and a clear ROI for this transformation. 
  • Partner and collaborate with Enterprise Data teams to implement the Tooling strategy over a multi-year time horizon. 
  • Play a primary role in working with Enterprise Data to ensure all key real-time data pipelines (e.g., to marketing communications platforms) are created and continuously improved.

Let's Talk About You!

  • 8+ years of hands-on development experience as a business intelligence engineer, or analytics engineer with expertise in enabling, building, and scaling data systems & effective dashboarding strategy for product centric organizations. 
  • Proven ability to deliver in fast-paced environments with ambiguous requirements, ideally within tech, e-commerce, fintech, or similar high-volume, data-intensive industries. 
  • Advanced programming skills in Python or Scala, with experience building distributed systems and complex data pipelines. 
  • Must have hands on experience on Azure based tools like Data Factory, Power BI, Azure ML.
  • Exposure to financial systems, market data APIs (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet), or ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP). 
  • Familiarity with finance concepts such as forecasting, risk modeling, or regulatory compliance. 
  • Exceptional problem-solving and engineering skills, with a passion for tackling hard technical problems to drive strategic roadmaps. 
  • Must be a team player who can effectively communicate and co-deliver high-impact initiatives with technical counterparts, business leaders, and junior analysts on the team. 
  • Willingness to learn the intricacies of finance and adapt to its unique challenges.
