Market Data Validation

Market data validation is the process of ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of financial and commodity market data used for risk management, pricing, and decision-making. This involves detecting anomalies, missing values, outliers, and inconsistencies in time series data, which can arise due to technical issues, data provider errors, or market disruptions. For a risk management function, validated market data is essential because inaccurate or inconsistent data can lead to incorrect risk metrics, mispricing of assets, and flawed financial decisions. Effective market data validation helps prevent erroneous risk assessments, ensures regulatory compliance, and enhances the robustness of risk models.
