To aid up on this journey, we are seeking a commercial, detail-oriented and analytical Business Data Analyst to join our team. This role can be based at any of our Office Hubs; Derby, Birmingham, Manchester or London, with monthly travel needed into our Head Office in East Midlands. 

 

You will be responsible for analysing complex business data sets, generating rich engaging reports, and providing actionable insights to support decision-making and helping to identify opportunities for growth, efficiency, and innovation through data-driven insights.

 

This role requires a strong understanding of data analysis, business intelligence, and the ability to story tell using data to audiences at all different levels of the firm. The ability to effectively collaborate with and influence different stakeholders using data will be critical.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Gather, clean, and analyse business data from multiple sources, ensuring data accuracy and integrity
  • Interpret data trends and patterns to provide actionable insights that inform business strategy and decision-making, helping leadership identify opportunities for increased profitability and operational efficiency
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and business metrics
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and help translate them into data-driven solutions
  • Present findings and recommendations to business leaders, ensuring clarity and strategic alignment
  • Communicate findings in a clear, compelling, and commercially relevant manner to senior stakeholders, making data accessible to non-technical audiences
  • Assist in the design and implementation of data models and data systems to improve data reporting and forecasting capabilities
  • Support the development of business forecasting models to predict future trends and performance
  • Through data integration, analyse and report on business processes to identify opportunities for optimisation and efficiency improvement
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices, trends, and new technologies in data analysis and business intelligence tools

We are looking for a strategic thinker with a passion for embedding data-driven decision-making across a fast-paced professional services environment. You’ll be driven by commercial insight, operational excellence, and digital transformation, using data to tell a story and influence stakeholders at all levels;

 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred; however, relevant experience in data analysis or business intelligence will also be considered
  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst or similar role in a business environment.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, R, or similar
  • Familiarity with business intelligence software (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or Looker) is a plus
  • Knowledge of data visualisation principles and best practices
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex information in an understandable manner
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in a team setting
  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and reporting tools is advantageous

 

Preferred Skills:

 

  • Experience in an accountancy, consulting, financial services, or a similar industry setting
  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and predictive analytics is a plus
  • Knowledge of data governance and data privacy regulations
