Job Description

The Sr. Solutions Consultant (Sales Engineering) at DataDirect Networks (DDN) is a hyperscaler-focused technical expert responsible for driving AI, ML, and HPC adoption within large-scale cloud environments. This role is crucial in aligning DDN’s cutting-edge AI solutions with hyperscaler architectures, optimizing storage, compute, and networking to accelerate AI workloads at massive scale. The ideal candidate will bring deep pre-sales engineering experience, expertise in hyperscaler AI/Cloud infrastructure, and a passion for delivering solutions that drive efficiency, performance, and cost optimization for Cloud Service Providers (CSPs), hyperscalers, and enterprise AI deployments.

Core Responsibilities:

• Hyperscaler AI Expertise: Demonstrate deep technical knowledge of AI and ML workflows within hyperscaler environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle Cloud, etc.), including architecture, deployment models, and optimization strategies for large-scale AI/ML operations.
• *Cloud & Edge AI Solutions: Design and implement AI-driven storage and compute solutions that support hyperscaler AI/ML training, inference, and data analytics pipelines.
• *Optimization & Performance: Drive discussions on GPU utilization, cloud storage performance, scalability, cost efficiency, and AI workload acceleration across hyperscaler platforms.
• *Strategic Partnering: Collaborate with hyperscaler ecosystem partners, OEMs, ISVs, and cloud-native AI frameworks to develop joint GTM strategies and solution offerings.
• *Technical Pre-Sales & Evangelism: Act as a trusted advisor for AI teams, demonstrating how DDN solutions integrate with hyperscaler-native AI tools like SageMaker, Vertex AI, Azure ML, and other cloud AI platforms.
• *AI Storage & Data Management: Guide customers in selecting optimal storage architectures, including parallel file systems, object storage, and tiered AI data strategies for hyperscaler-hosted AI models.
• *Enterprise AI & Cloud GTM: Drive AI adoption across large enterprises leveraging hyperscaler AI services, including co-sell and marketplace engagements.
• *Outcome-Driven Consulting: Partner with customers to align DDN solutions with their business outcomes, focusing on latency reduction, GPU acceleration, energy efficiency, and cost optimization in AI workflows.

Primary Responsibilities

• Outcome-Driven: Leverage experience in AI, Data & Analytics to engage deeply with clients, understanding their challenges and delivering value-driven solutions.
• Data Architecture Proficiency: Design scalable solutions and implement strategies for effective data models and management to support AI/ML workflows.
• Generative AI Enablement: Apply knowledge & expertise in AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs), neural networks, RAG, Inference, and recommendation systems, to drive innovation and client success.
• Technical Solution Design: Utilize frameworks like NeMO, NIMs, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Nvidia Enterprise Suite to craft and demonstrate DDNs advanced AI solutions tailored to client needs.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: You are a partner with between Sales, Product, Marketing and Engineering teams, ensuring customer insights inform messaging, collateral, product development, support/services and technical strategies.
• Partner Ecosystem Development: Build and maintain relationships across our ecosystem of Alliances, OEMs, CSPs, hyper-scalers, channel and integrators to create joint go-to-market strategies and expand DDN’s market reach.
• Enablement and Training: Deliver technical development for internal teams and partners, ensuring a deep understanding of DDN’s AI solutions.
• Market Awareness: Stay abreast of trends in AI, data management, and competitive landscapes to position DDN’s solutions effectively.

Key Practices:

• Consultative Engagement: Demonstrate the ability to understand client needs, outcomes and deliver tailored solutions through effective discovery processes and relationship building.
• AI Expertise: Showcase knowledge of AI workflows, frameworks, pipelines to include above the stack applications, Data Prep/Analytics, Toolkits, Training, Inference, Application Frameworks, NVIDIA Enterprise suite, LLMs, RAG, and related technologies, aligning solutions to business outcomes and emerging AI trends.
• Data Architecture Leadership: Provide insights and designs for data strategies that support efficiency, scalability, performance, and ROI.
• Technical Depth: AI Intelligence and knowledge of AI Pipelines, Applications, Frameworks, Workflows, LLMs, RAG, Inference, GENAI, ChatBots and advanced tools/frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and NVIDIA Enterprise Suite.
• Client Delight Focus: Build enduring client relationships and ensure successful adoption of DDN solutions, with measurable outcomes.
• Strategic Collaboration: Partner with internal and external stakeholders to align technical capabilities with business objectives and outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in AI/ML infrastructure, cloud engineering, or AI consulting, with a focus on hyperscaler AI environments.
• *Deep expertise in hyperscaler AI/ML platforms such as AWS (SageMaker, EC2 UltraClusters), Azure (AI Studio, Synapse AI), GCP (Vertex AI, TPU Pods), and hyperscaler-native storage architectures.
• *Understanding of large-scale AI training, inference, and data processing architectures in hyperscaler-hosted GPU clusters (NVIDIA H100/A100, TPU, Habana Gaudi, AMD MI300, etc.).
• *Experience working with CSPs, hyperscaler alliances, and co-selling motions with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
• Strong understanding of AI storage and compute efficiency, including parallel file systems, object storage (S3, Azure Blob, GCS), and data pipelines for AI workloads.
• *Hands-on experience with AI frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, NVIDIA AI Enterprise, NeMO, RAG, LLMOps, and other hyperscaler-integrated AI tools.
• *Strong customer-facing experience, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to hyperscaler customers, CSP architects, and AI research teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in AI-focused sales engineering or consulting within hyperscaler environments.
• Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud AI/ML, NVIDIA AI, etc.).
• Experience with co-selling and joint GTM strategies with hyperscaler AI teams and partners.
• Background in data center efficiency, AI model tuning, and GPU performance optimization at scale.
