About the Position: An ideal candidate for the AVP, Strategic Data Operations position will have a strong understanding of insurance industry operations and the ability to develop strategies that drive revenue growth based on robust data analytics. Working in collaboration with others in Business Operations, cross-functional peers in other departments, and executive leadership, this individual will support broader internal and external business initiatives. Strong organization, collaboration, and problem-solving skills are critical for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Owns data analytics function internally in support of revenue growth and other strategic business operations initiatives, including establishing operational framework and best practices

  • Overall ownership of division CRM data input/output processes and adherence, including setting data quality standards that drive scalability and integration across the organization in alignment with overall business goals and other key performance indicators (KPIs)

  • Develops reporting that drives better visibility to business performance and growth opportunities with internal and external partnerships

  • Conducts all data analyses independently in line with business objectives  

  • Develops strategies in support of revenue growth and operational expense initiatives based on analytics performed and collaborates cross-functionally to develop action plans that drive results; including but not limited to:

    • Potential brokerage office block opportunity (e.g., add/issue products, carrier consolidation opportunities, cross-sell opportunities, etc.)

    • Brokerage partner carrier bonus projections (e.g., if $X in premium sold by Y, you can expect Z in supplementation compensation)

    • Carrier trends, heat maps & benchmarking (e.g., products written x carrier in certain industries) 

    • Revenue leakage (e.g., missed opportunity to grow revenue by X% if we do Y)

    • Cost-to-serve analyses (e.g., if we offer X scope of service, our Operational Expense is Y, so profit margin is Z)

    • Compiles trends in data reception, pricing, plan designs and more amongst carrier partners to share best practices and paths towards improvement

    • Brokerage trends (e.g., new business growth and/or churn in particular business segments, business sold or lost in specific industries, zip codes, states, etc.)

    • Potential SaaS referral opportunities from HUB to a key SPG/HUB partner

    • HUB alignment & pipeline forecasting for closed employee benefits business referred to SPG/HUB from a key partner

  • Collaborates internally to construct opportunity models for revenue (e.g., new paid family leave legislation in states resulting in private plan adoption)

  • Support efforts to improve revenue predictability, forecasting, & budget exercises

  • Identifies continuous improvement opportunities and implements strategies and solutions developed in partnership with leadership and peers

  • Supports the roll out of a myriad of processes and tools centered around data analytics and revenue operations per leadership direction

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • 5+ years’ experience in operations role, direct experience with brokerage and/or carrier operations a plus

  • 5+ years’ experience owning data analytics and strategy

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and comfortable with organizational change

  • Impeccable organizational skills

  • Effective communicator with proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally

  • Self-starter who excels with minimal oversight or direction

  • Adaptable and capable of balancing competing priorities

  • Strong sense of curiosity and willingness to learn

  • Data-driven and analytical

  • Team-oriented mindset

Work Location: This is a 100% remote position working in your local time zone. Access to a local office may be available upon request.

Salary Transparency: The expected salary range for this position is $125,000-$150,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
