About the role:
The North America Payroll Team supports 3,000+ employees and ensures that employee payroll processing is accurate and compliant with federal and state laws. This role supports the North America business by ensuring accurate data inputs from a wide variety of sources such as Workday and external vendor systems, thereby enabling timely and accurate payroll processing. Additionally, the role acts as administrator for the time and labor system, TimeClock Plus (TCP), ensuring accurate and timely data required for payroll processing. This is a key HR role spanning the US and Canada. HR Payroll ensures detailed execution of Diageo’s North American payrolls and all related vendor, tax, accounting and compliance items.
Role Responsibilities:
Decision Making
- Analyze payroll issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Respond to payroll queries from employees in a timely manner.
- Perform root cause analysis, improve processes, and communicate changes in an effective way.
- Maintain compliance and continuous improvement in our processes.
Context/Scope:
Market Complexity
- Accountable for Diageo employees across the US and Canada from a payroll / time & labor management support perspective.
- Identify and document end-to-end review of all payroll process per site location. Stimulate steady process enhancement to present increasing operational efficiency.
- Ensure all processes are compliant, reduce manual entry points, and align with Diageo’s internal controls.
- Ensure payroll and time configuration meets each of the sites’ requirements.
Leadership/Stakeholder Management
- Responsible for driving the continuous improvement and vendor management agenda including holding the vendors accountable and always seeking ways to improve our payroll processes.
- Own the relationships with the NAM HRCs and team leaders at production sites.
- Work closely with internal partners to identify, prepare, and implement changes as required by changes in business processes or requirements such as CBA updates and legislative changes.
- Work with global partners (e.g. Global Mobility, Diageo PLC, shared service teams, etc.) to establish and improve ways of working such as international assignees and equity related transactions.
Key Outputs
- Support payroll processing for salaried, hourly, and executive population.
- Audit payroll reports and timesheets for correctness and compliance with internal and external requirements.
- System administrator for time and attendance system (TimeClock Plus) and train new HRC users.
- Support CBA negotiations by identifying potential areas of improvement.
- Implement union CBA changes in time system as needed.
- Manage corrections where needed prior to the close of the payroll.
- Request wire transfers and/or pay cards for deposit return and stop payments.
Experience / skills required:
Qualifications and Experience
- Payroll processing system experience (e.g. ADP GlobalView, Dayforce)
- Knowledge of time and attendance systems such as TimeClock Plus a benefit.
- Attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
- Security risk mentality and diligence in ensuring safekeeping of confidential information, as well as maintaining strict compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Strong analytical skills and comfortable working with large data sets to perform reconciliations and identify / resolve problems.
- Candidate must be a self-starter who possesses strong customer focus and is comfortable implementing change and dealing with ambiguity.
- Ability to understand and react quickly to changing priorities.
- Understanding of system interfaces such as SFTP integrations and APIs
- Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with various partners, build relationships, and influence across a large matrix organization.
- Degree or equivalent experience qualified (BS, BA)
