M3Robotics Lab and the Earth Mechanics Institute (EMI)The M3Robotics Lab and the Earth Mechanics Institute (EMI) at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden Colardo USA are looking to hire a staff software engineer on incorporating novel vision technologies, like event cameras or other sensory systems, to assist with talking initial steps towards automating underground roof bolting operations. This project will leverage the university’s experimental underground mine for field testing, the EMI institute, and will have leading industry collaboration and input. The project is focused on integrating hardware and software to provide unprecedented perception in the dark, poorly lit, and dusty environment encountered during drilling operations. This perception will be augmented with machine learning techniques to classify objects in the field of view and enable automated or one-touch bolting operations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Write algorithms in support of the project deliverables
Assist in integrating hardware and software as necessary
Work closely with a graduate student to design and conduct testing
Assist with publication preparation
Other tasks as directed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
MS in Robotics
Proficient with Python, C++, ROS
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with lidar reconstruction
Machine learning pipelines
Git version controlling and software engineering
SALARY AND BENEFITS
$85,000 annual salary rate
