The Opportunity
 

"As a leader and business strategic partner, you will lead teams of scientists working closely with external clients to build efficient predictive models, analyze and validate production model behavior and ensure optimal model performance. There will be opportunities to lead the internal technology team in development of models and get involved in sales activities related to the evaluation of models for different client environments." – Director, Analytic Science


What You’ll Contribute

  • Lead technical project teams and manage high-level analytic deliverables and innovation projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams (e.g., Pre-sales, Product Management, Development) to meet project roadmaps and delivery timelines.
  • Present findings to clients in a compelling way, demonstrating value and differentiation while ensuring a high level of customer support.
  • Conduct hands-on analysis of large historical datasets to identify the best modeling techniques, demonstrating expertise in various algorithms and modeling processes with cutting-edge analytic techniques.
  • Guide scientists in project assignments and support their career development.
  • Drive innovation and inorganic growth of new and existing analytic products through offering and promoting refined ideas.


What We’re Seeking

  • MS or PhD in a statistics, physics, engineering, mathematics, computer science or other related analytic fields.
  • Extensive experience in predictive modeling with software development in C, C++, Java, or other JVM languages (e.g., Kotlin, Scala).
  • Proven expertise in at least three of the following: neural networks, logistic regression, non-linear regression, random forests, decision trees, support vector machines, or optimization techniques.
  • Hands-on experience applying neural networks, machine learning, statistical modeling, pattern recognition, or data mining to real-world problems.
  • Proficiency with APIs (Spark API, PyTorch) and virtual environments (e.g., Conda).
  • Extensive experience in analyzing large datasets using Python, Perl, or Bash, including data cleaning and statistical analysis to uncover insights.
  • Prior experience managing high quality, on-time model development projects and driving innovation in the modeling process and offerings.
  • Experience leading cross functional teams of data scientists, software engineers, IT and product managers in executing analytic research or development projects, including driving Change Management initiatives.
  • Preferred expertise in payment applications and corresponding card association and ISO Standards.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.
  • Requires onsite presence at the FICO San Diego, CA office at least four days per week.

  • The targeted base pay range for this role is: $154,000 to $242,000 with this range reflecting differences in candidate knowledge, skills and experience.
