We develop innovative solutions that merge information from vision-based algorithms, inertial measurement units (IMUs), LiDAR, radar, and other sensors to provide accurate real-time state estimation for autonomous platforms operating in complex environments.
We are seeking a highly motivated engineering student to join our team for the summer. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research and development in robotics, autonomous navigation, and sensor fusion. You will contribute to real-world projects, applying your skills in algorithm design, machine learning, and embedded systems to enhance autonomy in challenging conditions.
Essential Functions
- Develop and implement computer vision-based localization, SLAM, or deep learning models for real-time navigation.
- Assist in integrating data from cameras, IMUs, GNSS, and alternative PNT sources for sensor fusion applications.
- Optimize and deploy navigation algorithms for embedded systems, robotics platforms, or edge computing hardware.
- Perform simulation and validation of navigation algorithms using Python, C++, or Rust
- Contribute to data collection, testing, and analysis for autonomous vehicle navigation in simulated and real-world environments.
- Work closely with senior engineers on research and prototyping efforts.

Qualifications and Competencies
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- Computer vision and deep learning frameworks (OpenCV, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
- Sensor fusion techniques (Kalman filters, particle filters, graph-based SLAM).
- Programming in C++, Python, or MATLAB.
- ROS (Robot Operating System) and robotic simulation environments (Gazebo, CARLA).
- Embedded systems and real-time computing (Jetson, Raspberry Pi, FPGA, or microcontrollers).
- Familiarity with navigation concepts, such as inertial navigation, visual odometry, and GNSS-denied positioning, is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Maintains a sharp attention to detail with strong critical thinking skills; unafraid to question the status quo and propose innovative ideas.
Education / Certifications
- Recent degree or current enrollment in an engineering program in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or related field with focus on dynamics and control.
- Validated academic excellence (3.0 GPA and higher)
Experience
- No previous experience required.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently required to sit, and to reach to use computers and other office equipment
Security Clearance
- Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret DoD clearance, U.S. Citizenship required.
