Purpose
The Connected Plant team partners with our global manufacturing sites to transform shopfloor data into actionable insights through advanced data visualizations and machine learning. As a key strategic enabler of the Factory of the Future, Connected Plant leverages advanced analytics and artificial intelligence to drive a paradigm shift in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, enhance experiences for our workforce, and deliver exceptional outcomes for our patients.
The role of Connected Plant Data Scientist focuses on developing and implementing advanced data analysis tools to optimize processes at AbbVie’s global manufacturing sites. This position maximizes the value of AbbVie’s data assets by delivering cutting-edge analytics solutions that integrate technology, data, and insights into decision making. By continuously identifying opportunities to innovate and transform manufacturing, the Data Scientist amplifies the impact of Analytics and Data Science. Working collaboratively with stakeholders, the Data Scientist defines challenges, investigates solutions, refines opportunities, and delivers innovative, data driven tools – all while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- For assigned projects, works with the cross-functional team including process engineers, manufacturing shopfloor personnel, maintenance and reliability teams, IT teams, and OT teams to enable innovative analytics solutions.
- Identify business needs and match them with delivery of an appropriate technical solution including data visualizations, process modeling, data automation, statistical analyses, or other such solutions.
- Leverages proven statistical methodologies and those methodologies established as standard by the team; in addition to leveraging proven statistical methodologies and standards established by the team, experiments and recommends additional techniques to solve business problems
- Works with team to ensure analytical work product is consistent across projects where appropriate and that user experience is optimized and establishes design principles and modeling standards
- Enables data-driven insights to support of assigned projects
- Participates in functional innovation and process improvement initiatives
- Communicate technical information clearly to stakeholders at local, regional, and global levels, and effectively organize and present objectives and progress through documentation and presentations.
- Ensures adherence to federal regulations and applicable local regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), ICH Guidelines, AbbVie Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and to functional quality standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree equivalent education and typically 5 years of experience, Master’s Degree or equivalent education and typically 4 years of experience. Background in engineering, science, or closely related discipline, preferred.
- Experience with python.
- Demonstrated ability to learn, understand and master new technologies.
- Strong written and oral English communication skills.
- Experience with Machine Learning and other advanced analytics techniques preferred
- Demonstrated effective communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate analytical and technical concepts in layman’s terms
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
- Demonstrated history of successful execution in a fast-paced environment and in managing multiple priorities effectively

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
