Description:
Chubb is seeking a Head of Data Risk responsible to lead the risk and control data strategy function of the Global Data Office and implement, manage and monitor controls for Data Management and Data Privacy Management capabilities at Chubb. The leader will ensure that the business requirements (both functional and technical) are well understood, and the solutions are delivered to meet the policy, legal, risk and compliance requirements. The Head will also collaborate with all businesses, global risk, compliance, legal and technology teams to understand their strategy, roadmap and priorities, such that the Global Data Office can deliver on these requirements. The leader is also tasked with the management and long-term prioritization of the business’s overall data controls and embedding these foundational capabilities and maturing them.
The role will encompass building and sharing our Data Risk strategy, storytelling & effectively communicating to internal stakeholders and our data leadership team. The role focus will also drive performance of data risk solutions to impact overall business results while keeping costs in check and ensuring the department remains within the planned budget. The leader is also responsible for setting the departmental vision and culture and championing for the use of data and analytics in supporting key business decisions.
This role will lead the strategy, design and delivery, and on-going operation of the Data Management and Data Privacy Framework and Data Policies/Standards. Own and maintain the Data Policy and Standards for Chubb. Define, agree and monitor OKRs for Data Domains to meet the obligations of the Data Risk Policy and Standards. Ensure that a complete and robust controls library and Key Control Indicator (KCI) Library is in place for Important Business Services and Critical Processes. Ensure that the control’s effectiveness of key controls is subject to ongoing monitoring and measurement. Deliver oversight over data issues, in alignment with operational risk, to ensure new issues are logged, monitored and closed in a timely and effective basis. Validate action plans for open issues.
The successful candidate has experience supporting large Data & Analytics Transformation programs and this role requires a continuous improvement mindset along with strong technical and data acumen and experience to ensure programs are delivered as efficiently and effectively as possible This role will also require that the candidate build exceptional credibility, trusting partnerships, and can influence at varying levels of the organization to build consensus and alignment on strategic objectives. Another key to the success of this role will be the ability to communicate effectively and concisely both written and verbally at all levels of the organization with clear decisions and outcomes easily understood based on the audience.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver oversight over data issues, in alignment with operational risk, to ensure new issues are logged, monitored and closed in a timely and effective basis. Validate action plans for open issues.
- Ensure risk data is recorded completely and accurately in the risk system of record.
- Promotes and embeds data risk awareness within area of responsibility and across the wider Chubb.
- Partner with Business, Technology & Transformation teams in Global Data Officer to formulate, communicate, and implement a multi-year strategic data risk roadmap that aligns with desired outcomes.
- Be a change agent that embraces and drives continuous improvement and change efforts at both an organizational and individual level and ensures the successful adoption of improvements/changes.
- Escalate and reporting to the governing bodies and senior management the relevant risk of data related issues.
- Preparation of Committee submissions on Data Management and Data Privacy
- Assess and co-ordinate any impact of relevant regulatory and legal requirements.
- Interface with External Regulator and Audit and Internal Governance Teams on Data Management and Data Privacy
- Management of a team of Data Risk Specialists
- Creates an environment of psychological safety where people feel safe to speak up and challenge senior leaders.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience as a data and analytics leader
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in work experience
- Experience in insurance or similar industry in utilizing a consultative approach to understand business needs.
- Experience in working through structured frameworks, with business stakeholders, for assessing and selecting key priorities for investment and development.
- Proven track record in leading large transformational efforts and demonstrating successful project management, leadership, and execution skills.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written that clearly and concisely communicates concepts to varying levels of the organization.
- Energetic, self-starter who can independently multi-task across many different complex strategic programs to drive multiple deliverables concurrently.
- Creative problem solver with the ability to quickly identify and resolve errors through collaborative solutions.
- Data-driven decision maker; able to complete thorough research and investigation, yet quickly make decisions and present findings.
- Capable of working collaboratively with leaders and business partners
- Understanding of analytics applications and processes
