Job Description
As part of The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, one of the top 5 cancer research centres in North America, the Principal Investigator is currently seeking applications for a computational postdoctoral fellow with expertise in cancer epigenomics, chromatin biology, and data-driven research.
The Lupien Laboratory is dedicated to uncovering the epigenetic mechanisms driving cancer development, progression, and therapeutic resistance. Using cutting-edge computational and experimental approaches, our team seeks to decode epigenomic heterogeneity and identify novel vulnerabilities that can be targeted for precision oncology.
Research Focus & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Lead independent computational research projects focused on the role of epigenetic heterogeneity in cancer initiation, progression, and treatment response.
- Develop and apply computational pipelines for analyzing single-cell and bulk epigenomic datasets, including scMultiome, Spatial ATACseq, ChIP-seq, Hi-C, and DNA methylation data.
- Integrate multi-omics datasets to explore chromatin dynamics and transcriptional regulation in hormone-dependent cancers and other aggressive malignancies.
- Work closely with wet lab scientists to guide experimental design and validate computational predictions.
- Develop innovative machine learning and statistical models to characterize epigenomic heterogeneity and treatment resistance mechanisms.
- Present findings at international conferences and contribute to high-impact publications.
By joining the Lupien Lab, you will benefit from:
- A Multidisciplinary Team – Our group integrates computational and experimental scientists to develop cutting-edge chromatin and epigenetics research.
- Clinical & Industry Partnerships – We collaborate with clinician-scientists, biotech companies, and AI researchers to translate discoveries into precision oncology.
- State-of-the-Art Resources – The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre provides high-performance computing, single-cell sequencing, and advanced AI platforms.
- A Prime Research Hub – Located in Toronto, a world-leading city biomedical innovation, offering unmatched professional growth.
Qualifications
We are looking for a motivated and creative postdoctoral fellow with:
- A PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, cancer genomics, or a related field.
- Experience in analyzing epigenomic data (ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, Hi-C, DNA methylation, or single-cell sequencing).
- Strong programming skills in Python, R, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of statistical and machine learning methods for multi-omics data integration is an asset.
- A passion for collaborative and translational research in cancer epigenomics.
