The Head of FI Data Strategy will be responsible for ensuring the development, prioritization, and implementation of the Fixed Income Data strategy, in partnership with the Chief Data Office (CDO), Front Office Solutions Enablement (FOSE), and Global Technology (GT). The plan will support the needs of our global Fixed Income professionals by providing a consolidated data strategy covering all aspects of the investment process from Credit/Quant Research and Portfolio Management, through to Trading and Execution.

The Head of FI Data Strategy will have deep investment acumen, including deep knowledge of all aspects of the investment decision making process – including, but not limited to, core data & analytics, quant data & analytics, benchmarks, securities, attribution, investment risk, trading, and portfolio modelling.

Core Capabilities:

  • Strategic in approach but with the ability to balance strategic and tactical thinking, supporting the development of a long-term vision for our data, with the tenacity to get things done in the short-term, and know when to employ the appropriate style.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills; demonstrated ability to employ fact-based decision-making to resolve complex problems by applying logic, analysis, experience, and business acumen.
  • Proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders; mobilize and motivate teams; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; execute with limited information and ambiguity.
  • A design focused advocate who partners on user-centered solutions, focused definition of requirements, and prototyping to learn and champion for the team, promote ongoing communication, and iterative refinements of the FI data strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish a holistic, comprehensive, and cohesive Fixed Income Data Strategy, in close partnership with the Chief Data office, Global Technology, Front Office Solutions & Enablement, and Global Trading partners, driving and developing solutions around the acquisition, processing, flow, and management of all Fixed Income data through to our global investment process.
  • Lead the Fixed Income Data team, providing guidance and mentorship, oversight, and ensuring all team members work toward executing the data strategy.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation, transparency, and communication of the data strategy to stakeholders and impacted functions, such that the strategy can be effective implemented and executed on.
  • Develop and leverage relationships with strategic data and analytic vendors to ensure the business is obtaining value-added services at a reasonable cost.
  • Drive data and tech projects to successful implementation in support of the strategy.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field like, accounting, finance, engineering, mathematics, or information technology with an outstanding academic record
  • 10+ years of experience in Asset Management with 3+ years of experience as a manager building and leading teams.
  • An in-depth understanding of Fixed Income data utilized for portfolio analysis concepts and tools including risk models, scenario analysis, performance measurement, attribution, and general portfolio analysis.
  • Strong understanding of FI analytics, preferably with experience of vendor solutions such as Bloomberg, FactSet, Barclays POINT, Citigroup YieldBook, MSCI RiskMetrics, etc.
  • Proven expertise in managing complex data requirements in an asset management environment.
  • Proven ability to be strategic, creative, and interested in leveraging technology to solve business problems, including a demonstrated ability to translate functional business requirements into complex technical solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills which lend themselves to team-oriented approach
  • Demonstrated results-oriented experience and drive
  • Adept and versatile leader, with the ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects and a diverse team spread across the globe
  • Strong communicator, from making presentations to technical writing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Finance, or another related field preferred
  • 10 to 15 years of technology and business/industry work experience Financial Industry Experience is preferred
  • SQL / Relational Database experience preferred
