Experienced Aerodynamics Performance Engineer

Boeing Global Services (BGS)  and the C-17 Propulsion & Aerodynamics Team, located in sunny Long Beach, California, is seeking an Experienced Aerodynamics Performance Engineer with knowledge of aircraft aerodynamic performance and computer programming to support an in-service fleet of large cargo aircraft.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs aerodynamic performance analysis of flight vehicles to ensure that the vehicle meets requirements
  • Performs aerodynamic performance calculations to support development of aircraft software improvements
  • Performs aerodynamic analysis for potential design changes and in service fleet aircraft configuration non-conformance to original design
  • Programs & maintains aero performance tools as needed to support aircraft software improvements and fleet operations
  • Interface with other Boeing organizations (Design Engineering, Field Engineering, Flight Operations, etc), Boeing subsidiaries, and customer personnel
  • Presents information to internal and external customers utilizing written and verbal presentation skills
  • Assists in training others
  • May be asked to support other programs or perform other duties as needed

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 3+ years of experience with airplane performance, including takeoff, landing, and enroute performance.
  • 3+ years’ experience utilizing professional/technical writing skills, teaming successfully to solve technical issues.
  • Computer Programming skills and knowledge..

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Knowledge of aircraft software requirements pertaining to aerodynamics, performance, or operability.
  • Familiarity with FORTRAN, Visual Studio IDE, Visual Basic.
  • Familiarity with modern programming languages such as Python.
  • Flight Operations experience, working directly with commercial airlines or military flight operations.

Experienced-Level Summary pay range: $100,300 - $135,700
