DRW are looking for a Software Engineer to join the Commodities trading group to build and support data pipelines for the ingestion, management, and analysis of datasets used by analysts and traders. The role entails working closely with senior data engineers and key stakeholders across both green field and established projects. As a member of the Data Engineering team, you’ll be responsible for building and maintaining ETL pipelines to ingest trade-critical data as well as contributing to the expansion and improvements of our core data infrastructure and internal tooling.
Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day development, deployment and monitoring of reliable ETL pipelines in Python. This also entails contributing to the improvements of our verification frameworks to proactively spot data quality issues
- Help maintain and contribute to building out additional features for our data infrastructure.
- Contribute to our internal tooling, frameworks and Python services that underpin the ETL pipelines.
- Contribute to the optimization and performance improvements of our various services and processes
- Regular direct contact with internal users and stakeholders. Able to work cross-functionally to help with data usage and data questions across trading desks and other engineering teams.
- Work closely with our admin teams to support and maintain our fleet of Databases.
- Participate in our on-call rota to address data needs, questions and issues for our users.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Strong Python programming skills and engineering best practices.
- Familiarity with any Database systems (relational, NoSQL, cloud, etc)
- Familiarity with data analysis and manipulation libraries like Pandas and Polars
- Strong communication skills with stakeholder-first mindset.
- Enthusiastic, motivated, and detail-oriented.
Experience with in any of the following is highly desirable:
- Data engineering experience and interest
- Experience with relational Databases, specifically Postgres
- Experience with cloud-based data services (Snowflake, AWS ecosystems, etc)
- Experience or familiarity with building Python services and APIs
- Experience or familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with general Python data analytics libraries for plotting, analysis, manipulation like matplotlib, seaborn, numpy, etc.
- Experience architecting systems and services from the ground up.
- Experience in a commodities trading environment, especially within the North American gas sector
The annual base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $250,000, depending on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and relevant skill set. The position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
