As a Staff Software Engineer in the Scientific Computing group, you will liaise with the Research and Development organization, including the Bioinformatics, Biostatistics and Data Science teams, and ensure that they have the necessary tools, processes and support to perform their work unobstructed by any infrastructure limitations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with stakeholders and users to define requirements

  • Assist with build and packaging automation, including CI/CD, version control, branch and tagging maintenance, and dependency management

  • Development, deployment and support of infrastructure tooling; including computing cluster orchestration, cloud migration, and documentation as code

  • Automation of cloud-based batch jobs, including command-line pipeline instrumentation

  • Support R&D focused studies on cloud platforms and Research Use Only (RUO) partnerships

  • Machine Learning operations, including experiment tracking and data management, versioning, and governance

  • Leverage off-the-shelf or existing functionality whenever possible so development resources can be focused on unmet needs

  • Integrate other enterprise systems and services to create seamless business processes

  • Improve Research and Development processes and procedures and evangelize best practices in infrastructure utilization

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MS degree in computer science, comparable program, or equivalent

  • 10+ years of overall software development experience, preferably building complex data or process management applications in production

  • 5+ years of experience in Python and another high-level programming language such as Java, R or Ruby

  • 5+ years of experience with web services (REST, etc), XML/JSON, and Oracle or other relational databases

  • 5+ years of experience in cloud computing infrastructure

  • Excellent communication

  • Commitment to diversity in engineering

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Machine Learning frameworks

  • Cloud Computing

  • Python

  • CI / CD

  • REST APIs and other Web service backend technologies

  • Relational Database and SQL Programming

NICE TO HAVE: 

  • Bioinformatics expertise

  • Background in Molecular Biology and Genetics

  • Experience in the healthcare industry

  • Familiarity with regulated environments

The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.Remote USA$136,300—$170,400 USD
