Within AI Platform, the Multimodal Intelligence team empowers developers and data scientists around the world and of all skill levels to easily add multimodal AI capabilities to their apps. We are looking for a research Scientist to work on exciting challenges in Document Understanding and Computer Vision. #aiplatform

We are particularly interested in candidates with background in Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing and/or Artificial Intelligence, including topics like Video Understanding, multi-page multi-document question answering, novel ways of leveraging large language models for document understanding and solving problems inherent to large language models (grounding, retrieval-based generation, etc.) and other Multimodal topics. Familiarity with modern large language models is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and articulates problems in an area of research that may impact business opportunities.
• Advances a research agenda through one or more research projects, yielding new algorithms, prototypes, theories, tools, methods, analyses, insights, or collections of data in one or more subareas or a broad area of research.
• Masters one or more subareas (e.g., Object Recognition, Text Classification) and gains expertise in a broad area of research (e.g., Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Document Understanding); understands the corresponding literature, applicable research techniques, and academic context.
• Collaborates with other relevant researchers or research groups to contribute to or advance a research agenda. Publishes papers as lead author for high-quality conferences and journals.
• Partners and collaborates with other teams on related deliverables, and leverages others in relevant work streams.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

· Doctorate in Computer Science or relevant field.

o OR equivalent experience.

. Fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

. Strong algorithmic problem solving and software development skills (Python, C/C++, etc.). 

. Experience with LLMs/LMMS, and open-source tools such as PyTorch, etc
. Publication(s) in top-tier conferences or journals in related fields (e.g., CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, NIPS, ICML, ICLR, IJCV, PAMI, etc.).
