Senior Data Engineer

The application you’re responsible for sits at the core of natural catastrophe simulation at Swiss Re. 

 

About the role 

In this role, you will have the outstanding opportunity to work on some of the most exciting data engineering challenges the industry can offer! You will design and implement reliable, highly parallelized data pipelines using Databricks and PostgreSQL. You will be responsible for managing and evolving our OLAP and OLTP systems, ensuring high performance and scalability to meet ever-growing demands of our users. The scale of hot data in our system is in the multi-terabyte range, with cold data exceeding hundreds of terabytes. You will collaborate closely with various squads within the team and other departments of Swiss Re to ensure data integrity, security, and availability.

About you

• You have a wealth of experience in building data solutions, preferably with a DBA background. 

• High proficiency in both OLAP and OLTP tooling, such as Databricks and PostgreSQL. 

• Experience in managing large-scale, multi-terabyte, analytical and transactional data systems. 

• Strong problem-solving, open-minded and collaborative mindset. 

 

For Slovakia the base salary range for this position is between [EUR 3,300] and [EUR 5,500] per month (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:​

• the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role, ​
• the applicant’s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.​

In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance-based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements. Further you will enjoy a variety of global and location specific benefits.​

Eligibility may vary depending on the terms of Swiss Re policies and your employment contract.​
