POSITION TITLE: Director, Data Strategy & Data Governance
LOCATION: NY, NY (hybrid position)
The Director of Data Strategy & Data Governance is responsible for leading and operationalizing the organization’s product data governance framework, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and quality across systems. This role serves as a key bridge between data strategy and execution, focusing on both governance implementation and data quality improvement efforts.
This role requires a mix of strategic governance expertise and hands-on data leadership, ensuring that product data is well-structured, standardized, and aligned with business needs. The Director will collaborate with IT, product teams, business leaders, and data professionals to define governance policies, oversee data quality initiatives, and drive cross-functional alignment on data management practices.
The Director of Data Strategy & Data Governance needs to have the experience and competencies to proactively lead collaborative efforts across business groups, functional teams, at multi levels. They are accountable to provide stable foundation for procedures & processes that will enable execution of Business goals.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:
Data Governance Leadership & Execution
Develop and implement data governance policies, standards, and best practices to ensure data integrity and consistency.
Partner with the Senior Director of Data Strategy & Governance to define priorities and execution roadmaps.
Establish governance workflows, data ownership models, and standardization guidelines for product data.
Provide data governance training and awareness programs to stakeholders.
Support the evolution of maturity of governance, setting the foundation for future data stewardship models.
Ensure product data governance aligns with regulatory and compliance requirements.
Data Quality & Standardization
Define and track data quality KPIs, ensuring continuous monitoring and improvement of data completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
Work closely with IT and business teams to map data flows across systems and resolve inconsistencies.
Lead data remediation efforts and drive data cleansing initiatives to improve product data accuracy.
Lead data change request process supporting global/regional needs
Resolve potential and actual cross functional process challenges that affect data flow between NA & EU Systems
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Enablement (Business & IT Alignment)
Partner with product, IT, and analytics teams to ensure data governance policies are effectively implemented.
Act as the bridge between business needs and technical execution, advocating for adoption of governance.
Work closely with data engineers to optimize data pipelines, transformations, and integration strategies.
Partner in metadata management, taxonomy structures, and product data classification efforts.
Team Development & Future Growth
Lead and mentor data governance and quality analysts, as the team expands.
Define governance roles and responsibilities, including future data stewardship functions.
Support executive leadership in shaping the long-term vision for data governance.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Experience:
10 years of experience in data governance, data management, or data quality leadership roles.
Experience in establishing and proven ability to operationalize governance frameworks and data policies.
Hands-on experience with data quality initiatives, data mapping, and standardization efforts.
Good understanding of data lineage, metadata management, and data classification methodologies.
Ability to drive governance adoption and cross-functional collaboration.
Ability to work directly with data while also leading governance strategy efforts.
Practical experience of documenting and mapping business processes
Experience with product data in apparel industry across design, supply, merchandising, planning, operations, sales and finance
Experience with data governance tools a plus (e.g., Collibra, Informatica).
Understanding of product data management (PDM) or master data management (MDM) systems.
Education: University/College degree
Skills:
Excellent qualitative, quantitative, analytical, and critical thinking skills
Exceptional skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheet
Strong leadership and communication skills to bridge business and technical teams.
Strong project management, presentation, and documentation skills
Able to multi-task, identify and shift priorities quickly.
Collaborative team player orientation towards work relationships aligned to company values
INTERNAL & EXTERNAL CONTACTS:
Internal: Global/Regional Brands/Business teams design, supply, planning, merchandising, operations, sales and finance
Eternal: Technology and/or Data Governance Consultants
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct: Data Strategy and Data Governance team 1-4 associates optimal
Indirect: Influence and lead cross functional team leaders for business process alignment, oversee departmental project stakeholders
BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not have direct budgetary responsibilities but will contribute to scoping resources for project budgets and identifying operational value/benefits of transformation projects.
DECISION MAKING:
Requires strategic skillset and ability to define and set strategy and execute across multiple depts
Able to make decisions with in a defined set of parameters while including cross functional team alignment
RESOURCEFULNESS/CREATIVITY:
Ability to take full ownership of the projects with minimal supervision and direction. Manage time and effectively prioritize demand
High degree of creativity, vision, and adaptability to changing trends and/or business demands
ENVIRONMENT:
Ability to work in a consistently growing environment and with partners in person and virtual
Willing to travel between NY offices and NJ location

Pay Range:$150,000 - $175,000PVH currently provides base salary ranges for all positions-on job advertisements-in the United States based on local requirements. These ranges are based on what PVH reasonably believes that it will pay an associate for their base salary for said position at the time of the posting. Individual compensation will ultimately be determined based on a variety of relevant factors including but-not limited to qualifications, geographic location and other relevant skills.
