The Data Plus group is seeking a Dominion Energy Virginia (DEV) Business Intelligence Specialist to join our group. The DEV Business Intelligence Analyst role is the intermediate level and fully proficient progression level in the Business Intelligence Analyst Job Family. Distinguished from the Associate Business Intelligence by the increased complexity in the application of skills and knowledge. Performs moderate to complex work requiring demonstrated proficient technical skills and knowledge and experience within the functional area or specific data discipline. In this role, the Business Intelligence Analyst works independently or as part of a team developing more complex Data Analysis, Modeling and Data Science products. Exposure to shadow as a liaison between several DEV business units supporting data driven, ad hoc responses based on analytics, modeling, and statistical data. Applies acquired skills related to Business Performance, Finance, Systems, Operations, and Engineering solutions. Works independently with aspects of data governance, cataloging, data acquisition, data quality, data analysis, data interpretation, and interactive data visualizations. This includes entry or build of business metadata, business rules, and support with remediation of data quality defects.  Increasing ability to work as part of a cross-functional team to analyze business requirements, assist with the development of model strategies or solutions. Works with enterprise data and technology needs to support business intelligence and analytics. Increased knowledge working with multiple data platforms and develops analytic solutions using multiple technologies and programming languages.

The Senior DEV Business Intelligence Analyst role is the senior progression level in the Business Intelligence Job Family. Distinguished from the Business Intelligence Analyst role by the increased complexity in the application of skills, knowledge, and responsibility for process ownership. Performs difficult and complex work requiring strong skills and significant knowledge and experience within the functional area or specific discipline. Considered the senior level technical expert in specialized Data Analysis, Modeling and Data Science. Possesses the ability to act as the liaison between several DEV business units to provide data driven, ad hoc responses based on analytics, modeling, and statistical data by developed proprietary program parameters. Works in a high technical level with Business Performance, Finance, Systems, Operations, and Engineering professionals by clearly articulating analytic data into applicable solutions and decisions. Provides dynamic, deep technical and business-related support for all aspects of governance, cataloging, data acquisition, data quality, data analysis, data interpretation, and interactive data visualizations. This includes business metadata, business rules, and influence remediation of data quality defects.  Ability to work as a lead in cross-functional teams to analyze business requirements, develop model strategies, develop technical design solutions, and provide actionable decisions supported by customized data sets. Designs, develops, and delivers upon data and technology needs to support business intelligence and analytics. Works on multiple data platforms and develops analytic solutions using multiple technologies and programming languages. Devises or modifies procedures to solve problems. Researches and applies design, develop, and delivery of advanced analytics solutions with consideration for functionality, data, security, integration, infrastructure, efficiency, and performance.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

DEV Business Intelligence Analyst: 3+ years of directly related experience

  • 3+ years directly related experience in computerized data analysis in DEV.
  • Intermediate level experience in programming, querying, data structures, statistics, data visualization & communication.
  • Intermediate level experience in adapting to and applying rapidly changing technology to business needs.
  • Increasing knowledge in utilizing MS Power Bl, MS Access, MS SQL Server Management Studio, Alteryx, RazorSQL, Python, Toad database developer software.
  • Ability to demonstrate or apply acquired problem-solving skills and is a logical and analytical thinker. Increasing ability to research and understand customer processes and issues.
  • Increasing ability to work with people from all levels of the organization in order to influence and impact others with decisions that may have significant budgetary impact.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle deadlines and pressure with concern for quality.
  • Strong conceptual thinking and reasoning abilities.
  • Demonstrated competency in verbal, written and presentation communication.
  • Demonstrated self-starter with self-control and flexibility.
  • Preferred experience in: Metadata Analysis, Business Glossary, Snowflake, Tableau, Power BI, Power Apps, SharePoint, Data Catalog (TBD), Data Quality Tool (TBD), Alteryx, SQL.


Senior DEV Business Intelligence Analyst: 5+ years of directly related experience 

  • 5+ years directly related experience in computerized data analysis in DEV.
  • Senior level experience in programming, querying, data structures, statistics, data visualization & communication.
  • Senior level experience in adapting to and applying rapidly changing technology to business needs.
  • Advanced knowledge in utilizing MS Power Bl, MS Access, MS SQL Server Management Studio, Alteryx, RazorSQL, Python, Toad database developer software.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, and is a logical and analytical thinker.
