Purpose of the Role: 

  

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Cloud Ops Engineer to join our growing and dynamic Data Platform Engineering Team.  
 
The Cloud Ops Engineer will play a key technical role in automating the build and advancing our Data Platform and Data technology stack, leveraging modern day Azure cloud services, and securely driving CI/CD & automation practices. 
 
The ideal candidate should have a strong experience in DevOps and Cloud Ops practices, versed with Well Architected Framework ,FinOps including deploying Azure infrastructure services following best practises, with a strong focus on Platform Engineering , virtual networking and serverless computing. 
 
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities: 
 
As a Cloud Ops Engineer, you will be responsible for shaping our technical roadmaps across our Azure Cloud Platform , defining our technical governance , standards and will play an important role in wider collaboration with technology platforms teams across the business. 
 
You will work alongside a technical team of engineers to support the delivery of Azure hosted data Projects and deliverables, enabling us to support business customer requirements, building a well secured, performance efficient Azure Platform capable of hosting solutions to achieve strategic goals and objectives. 

  

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams across the business, with a key focus on alignment to enterprise architecture for our Data capabilities. 

  • Responsible for the implementation and management of secured,  highly scalable, performance efficient, modernised infrastructure across our Azure cloud platforms supporting our Cloud Data services. 

  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment processes, with CI/CD principles a strong focus area. 

  • Support and Enhance our CI/CD pipelines to streamline SDLC and improve our overall Data services capabilities. 

  • Monitor system performance and deliver proactive maintenance improvements. 

  • Ensure Security and Compliance of our Cloud infrastructure and Solutions, including a focus on Vulnerability Management & Maintenance. 

  

Knowledge and Experience: 

  • Strong experience implementing Azure Infrastructure Services in accordance with embedding best practises as part of build process. 

  • Strong experience in automation levering scripting languages such as JSON, Bicep, Yaml, Python, Terraform, Ansible and PowerShell. 

  • Proven understanding in Containerisation and Serverless computing services and practices (examples such as Docker , Azure AKS , Azure Container Instances ,Azure Functions , AWS EKS and Lambda). 

  • Strong networking skills specifically in the use of securing data platforms in the cloud. 

  • Experience in the deployment and support of Databricks , Azure Synapse, Azure OpenAI ,Azure AI Search, Azure SQL PaaS services, Azure ML and other Advanced Analytics related services. 

  • A solid understanding of DevOps, FinOps and DevSecOps principles and concepts. 

  • Experience in delivering and managing CI/CD Pipelines leveraging tools such as Azure Pipelines , Azure DevOps, and Jenkins. 

  • Strong Experience with Organising Azure Landing zones from Root Management Groups to individual resources. 

  • In-depth Understanding of Azure Global Presence (Regions)
