Role Summary

Reporting into the Cloud and Productivity Engineering Organisation, this role that will own and deliver the London Stock Exchange Group’s modern application solutions using containerization.  Innovation is at the heart of this program and the role/key focus areas will continuously evolve to meet the business change, security, and our digital strategy.

A successful leader in this role will have examples of defining and curating the Container strategy, standards, processes, methodologies, and architecture to enable business innovation, simplify technology landscape and improve overall operational excellence. The role demands to collaborate with various teams Security, Engineering, Identity etc to come up with solutions that best fits the customers project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the acceleration, adoption and migration of applications to the public cloud targeting moving the majority of the overall combined LSEG / Refinitiv estate to the cloud using containerization at its core
  • Responsible for analysing, designing and implementing Container infrastructure solutions for projects and business needs in accordance with LSEG standards and procedures.
  • Responsible for designing and implementing infrastructure processes such as service requests and capacity management for container platforms and environmental components.
  • Monitor resource utilization rates, look for potential bottlenecks, efficiency and savings potential. identify and implement improvement points
  • Support knowledge management by creating, maintaining, and improving documentation such as solution design documents (HLD, LLD), knowledge articles, Wikis, and other artifacts. Lifecycle management of all Container platforms. Evaluation of tools and applications to manage/monitor Container infrastructure
  • Develop long-term technical design, architecture and implementation of LSEG services. Play a role in its implementation by creating long-term roadmaps for container platforms and peripherals
  • Work with the Group CISO and the broader IT security teams to improve security controls
  • Work with container product team to define container strategy including standards, blueprints, processes, and patterns.
  • Build relationships & collaborate across the Engineering community to establish and implement consistent architecture across all Digital platforms which delivers LSEG’s future technology needs and approved by relevant governing bodies
  • Build relationships and collaborate with the cloud platform 'customers' and communicate with senior stakeholders up to C Level
  • In part perform the task of Agile 'Product Owner' for the container product. 
  • Ensure feedback and learning is obtained and utilised as early and often as possible

Candidate Profile / Key Skills

  • Proven deep technical background working with related infrastructure technologies
  • Experience with the following technology areas
    • SDLC – Continuous Integration & Delivery, Application Security, Quality Assurance
    • Platforms – Istio, Serverless, Kubernetes
    • Processes - Agile, Lean, Product Development
    • Culture - DevSecOps, Continuous Change
    • Software engineering with exposure to event high performance computing, event driven, big data analytics, machine learning
    • Program language polyglot (C, C++, C#, Java, Rust, Go, Python)
    • Enterprise and Solution Architecture
  • Proven experience working in a senior technology role (e.g. technical / infrastructure / enterprise architect) within a public cloud environment (ideally with AWS or Azure) in a large enterprise environment in container space.
  • Ability to effect technological and cultural change towards rapid technology adoption and absorption (for example, “automation first” implementations, making base infrastructure and platforms a fabric with which to build upon)
  • Team player with a proven track record in delivering successful business outcomes
  • Excellent planning and communication skills and able to lead conversations with development and product teams
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong influencing skills and significant negotiation experience
  • Strong team building and coaching approach; develops, equips and releases leaders
  • Experience of guiding and motivating a global team to deliver to their maximum potential
  • Ability to foster a high trust environment, in which considered risks taking can occur and innovation thrives
  • Exposure and awareness of modern-day programming languages
  • Demonstrable understanding of PaaS/ SaaS/ IaaS and use cases and best practices in public cloud
  • Proven awareness of the latest developments in today's public cloud industry (AWS / Azure etc) and related industry benchmark / best practice projects
  • Proven track record working in agile environments under a DevOps culture
  • Deep understanding of operating systems, network infrastructures, RDBMS etc
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code software Exposure to automated testing tools
  • Knowledge of continuous integration - continuous deployment pipelines
  • Recognised deep proficiency with Azure, AWS & GCP services
