The Opportunity:

Tax and Economic Policy Group (TEPG) at EY is a specialised team with experience of dealing in policy matters. The TEPG has experienced talent from government, corporate sector and leading industry associations. The Group anticipates policy changes and assesses their impact on the competitiveness and profitability of individual businesses, trade and the broader economy.

It works across the following areas:

(i) tax policy, (ii) international trade policy, (iii) economic policy, (iv) sectoral policies and regulations. The output of the TEPG is in the form of high impact policy papers and advocacy with the Government, policy impact analysis and though leadership reports.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide research and analytical support to the TEPG in the areas of Policy, Taxation, Regulation, and International Trade

• Data and economic analysis: o Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems o Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex and large data sets using statistical tools and techniques for client projects, thought papers and other research studies/publications o Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality for client projects and research studies/publications

• Understand and evaluate the potential impact of existing or proposed policies on industries, sectors and client businesses

• Assist in business development activities, such as writing technical and financial proposals, supporting senior leadership in making presentations for outreach activities/ business pursuits

• Assist in the thought leadership activities of TEPG – Writing reports, conducting policy research, preparing sectoral reports, preparing Roundtables documentations, etc. CONSULTANT 3 2024

• Provide assistance in writing reports/ deliverables, making presentations to clients/ internal stakeholders for projects/ engagements

• Helping senior team members in drafting representations, presenting data insights for public policy advocacy engagements Required Skills and Qualifications

• Postgraduate in Economics / Public Policy / MBA

• Proven working experience of 0-2 years on policy or business data analyst

• Strong understanding of Macroeconomics and policy matters

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy Other Desired Skills

• Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analysing datasets (Excel, R, Python, Stata, SAS) and adept at data visualisation and plotting

• Previous experience of working with Central and State Governments including bodies controlled by them and/or International Government/donor agencies would be an added advantage

• Knowledge of various data sources provided by WDI, IMF, WITS, CSO, NSSO and Government ministries and bodies etc. What we look for People with the ability to work in a collaborative way to provide services across multiple client departments while adhering to commercial and legal requirements.
