Priority1, a privately held third-party logistics company, is looking to hire a talented Database Engineer to join a growing software development team responsible for the development of a transportation and logistics technology platform.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience with T-SQL and hands-on experience working with Azure SQL Managed Instance. This role also requires proficiency in SQL Server Integration Services, Azure Data Factory, or related data integration tools. The Database Engineer will collaborate with software engineers and data teams to build scalable, efficient, and high-performing data solutions in an Agile development environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize SQL databases, ensuring high performance and data integrity.
• Write, debug, and optimize complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions.
• Manage and maintain Azure SQL Managed Instance, ensuring security, performance, and scalability.
• Implement ETL/ELT processes to extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources.
• Design and develop data models (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema) to support analytics and reporting.
• Support code-first software engineers, ensuring seamless database integrations with applications.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable database solutions.
• Monitor database performance, security, and backups, proactively identifying areas for improvement.
• Work in an Agile development environment, participating in sprint planning, code reviews, and team discussions.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of experience working with T-SQL (writing queries, stored procedures, performance tuning).
• Strong knowledge of SQL database design, indexing, and query optimization.
• Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Managed Instance and other cloud-based database technologies.
• Experience designing and maintaining ETL/ELT processes using Azure Data Factory (ADF) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
• Familiarity with data modeling concepts (star schema, normalization, etc.).
• Ability to analyze complex and unfamiliar data models and design solutions accordingly.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
