Founded in 2004 by a group of PhD students as a spin-off from the University of Zurich, Molecular Partners AG is a thriving and steadily growing clinical stage biotech company located in Zurich-Schlieren (Switzerland) with 180 highly qualified employees. Internship - Machine Learning & AI Bioinformatics M/F
Job description
We are looking for a Machine Learning & AI Intern to support our Research Digitalization team. This internship offers hands-on experience in applying AI/ML techniques to bioinformatics and drug discovery.
This challenging and diverse position will include the following tasks and responsibilities:
- Assist in developing machine learning models for analyzing and optimizing DARPin therapeutics.
- Explore feature engineering techniques to extract relevant insights from biological data.
- Support the implementation and tracking of predictive models using MLFlow.
- Gain exposure to large language models and generative AI for protein design.
- Work with cloud-based tools (e.g., Databricks) to manage and analyze large datasets.
- Help create interactive visualizations to communicate findings effectively.
Requirements
For this position, we are looking for a highly motivated individual bringing along:
- Currently pursuing (or recently completed) a degree in Machine Learning, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biotechnology, or related fields.
- Basic knowledge of Python and interest in AI/ML techniques (e.g., classification, regression, clustering).
- Eagerness to learn about cloud computing and data processing (experience with Databricks or Spark is a plus).
- Understanding of biology or bioinformatics is helpful but not required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
