Research Fellow (Self-Driving Labs for Alternative Protein - Software)

The School of Materials Science and Engineering at Nanyang Technological University is at the forefront of materials innovation and sustainable technology development. The NGenuity Lab, led by Assistant Professor Leonard Ng Wei Tat, specializes in developing autonomous laboratory systems that accelerate scientific discovery through advanced automation and artificial intelligence.

We are looking for a Research Fellow to spearhead the development of an autonomous laboratory system that supports Singapore's "30 by 30" food security vision through innovative alternative protein research. The role will focus on developing AI-driven platforms that integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) and digital twin technology, contributing to Singapore's ambition to produce 30% of its nutritional needs locally and sustainably by 2030.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development of machine learning pipelines and LLM-based systems for automated experimentation

• Develop automated data processing workflows and predictive models

• Configure cloud-based and on-premises computing infrastructure for digital twin implementations

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on system integration

• Mentor junior researchers and contribute to grant writing

Job Requirements:

• PhD degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or related technical field

• Strong programming skills and experience with machine learning frameworks

• Experience with cloud computing platforms and data processing pipelines

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
