The HSE Data & Performance Analyst will serve as the data guru for the America’s Region HSE Group. They will, improve our regional data collecting methods, develop data analysis and data visualization tools, and user interface systems to facilitate data access, user friendly data queries, and data system functionality.
The role encompasses tasks such as consolidating and automating data from web-based system modules and other sources to fuel the HSE reporting systems. Additionally, there's involvement in creating reusable HSE templates and dashboards. This setup also establishes the foundation for future integration of machine learning models into the artificial intelligence-based reporting system.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Analyze data and develop insightful dashboards, memos, and presentations summarizing the data related to our global health and safety performance
- Conduct quality assurance of input data and calculations, troubleshoot inconsistencies in data or calculations, and assist in completing internal validation
- Collaborate with operational business units, country representatives and the global HSE Community to improve and digitalize our data collection, procedures and systems over time, including the data itself, and the tools that will help to analyze and interpret results and trends
- Collection, tracking, reviewing, and monitoring of monthly regional and global HSE KPI’s and related data requirements; Completion of monthly regional and corporate reports, as required
- Review all HSE metrics during the validation period twice a year for data accuracy in terms of reporting (LTIs, waste, energy consumption, productivity, etc.)
- Assigned a the regional “Super User” of the GHSE Application to resolve issues and provide solutions to the regional business units, when necessary
- Monitor Incidents Reports / Hazard Reports/ Near Miss Reports / Inspections and other GHSE Application modules to improve quality of reporting and data provided by the regional business units to help improving data for trending analysis.
- Monitor GHSE Application modules usage and assist in the implementation of new Modules (Change Management, RCCA, Audits, etc.)
- Take ownership of, and develop content for, the America’s HSE web page
- Collect Best Practices, Lessons Learned, Training Material and maintain a Data Sharing Library for the benefit of the business units and/or other regions
- Create regional statistical reports and trending analysis using analytics and PowerBI
- Working with the regional and country level communications teams, develop an HSE communication plan for the region Work with communications team(s) to develop safety campaigns and bulletins
- Monitor and measure safety and environmental performance vs. targets
- Develop, write, and maintain a variety of reports, documents, correspondence, and records related to DP World America’s HSE performance
- Proactively analyze trends and HSE performance patterns and communicate them to business unit HSE teams
- Validate the operating entities' safety and environment reporting data entry twice a year with the regional advisors
- Provide consultation in managing the data requirements in the GHSE web applications (Inputs, Calculations, Extracts, and generated reports)
- Offer data and analytical inputs and review in the production of reports for the VP of HSE
- Support in building systematic platforms to assist business and customers taking appropriate decisions (e.g., HSE Dashboard, One Click Reports, Business Profile Maps)
- Participate and support the implementation of IT based technical solutions to improve HSE reporting and performance of the operating entities within AMR region
Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI):
- Consult with HSE leaders and stakeholders on the design of generative AI summaries, chatbots, and maintain a roadmap of HSE AI activities
- Leverage generative AI techniques to enhance safety protocols, risk assessments, and incident prevention strategies
- Explore innovative ways to apply AI techniques to HSE data
- Create engaging reports and dashboards to inform our workforce of safety hazards relevant to job tasks
Data Extraction and Mining:
- Perform data extraction from various sources, including databases, spreadsheets, and software systems.
- Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies within HSE data.
- Validate data accuracy and completeness.
- Design and propose data quality improvement techniques and processes
Statistical Analysis and Modelling:
- Utilize statistical techniques to analyze safety incidents, environmental metrics, and health-related data.
- Develop leading indicator models to identify potential safety hazards and opportunities to improve safety performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to interpret findings and recommend actionable solutions
Software Proficiency:
- Proficiently use MS Office, Data analysis and visualization tools such a Python, PowerBI and SharePoint for data manipulation, analysis, and visualization
- Familiarity with business intelligence tools for creating engaging dashboards and reports
- Continuously research and apply new and innovative technology to health and safety data
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Experience and/or education in project management or analytics preferred; Experience working with Occupational/Industrial Health and Safety prevention programs, is an asset
- Safety Management System knowledge or training is preferred
- Minimum 5-7 years’ experience, preferably in the port or heavy industry environment
- Written program development, project management, and training program development experience
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain good working relationships and achieve buy in and ownership of safety standards/initiatives among all departments and levels
- High level of computer skills including MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, MS Project, PowerBI and SharePoint)
- Experience managing and using operating systems, data bases and various management software applications
- Sound judgement and analytical thinking that enables decision making, ability to manage projects and prioritize and manage timelines
- Self-starter with a positive, hands-on approach and the ability to work as a team member
- Ability to be a self-starter requiring minimal supervision to complete projects and tasks on time
- Speaks and writes fluent English; Spanish speaking would be an asset
