Your role:

As a Data Scientist Co-op you will be  you will be involved in the entire SDLC process, including design, code reviews, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring of our artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions.  Our solutions are developed by small, focused agile teams of data scientist and developers. You will be applying a wide variety of models to very large electronic communication archives in order to classify and understand communication content. You'll have the opportunity to work in machine translation, transcription, natural language processing, LLMs (large language models), and/or generative AI. You also get to tackle interesting and engaging problems related to scalability and high availability in big data environments.

About you:

• Recent or soon-to-be graduate from a MSc or BSc in a STEM or Linguistics subject with previous Co-op experience
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Course work or experience with machine learning, (gen-)AI, data science
• Course work or experience with Python
• Course work or experience working with very large data sets 
• Course work or experience with any of the following is an asset:
  • Machine learning libraries such as: PyTorch, Sklearn, TensorFlow, TensorRT and others.
  • Acoustic or language models for speech recognition
  • Natural language processing models
  • Large language models
  • Kubernetes and micro services

Technologies that we work with on a daily basis:

• Python ecosystem
• Machine learning libraries such as: PyTorch, Sklearn, TensorFlow, TensorRT and others.
• GPUs (A100, L40S, H100)
• Databases (CockroachDB, Milvus)
• Containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

Compensation:
Global Relay advertises the pay range for this role in accordance with provincial law. Salaries are displayed in the form of annual base salary but are paid out semi-monthly for the duration of employment.

Base salary range:$36,000—$56,000 CAD
