Huawei's Munich Research Center is responsible for advanced technology research, architectural development, design and strategic engineering of our products.

The Advanced Wireless Technologies Lab (AWTL) is responsible for research activities towards the definition and development of future mobile network technologies and communication systems. AWTL has been engaging with multiple research and standardization activities, including participating to European Commission funded research projects of Horizon 2020 framework, contributing to industrial communication fora as 5G-AA, 5G-ACIA, transferring technologies to standardization bodies like 3GPP, ETSI, GSMA, NGMN, and developing in-house experimental platforms, prototypes and proof of concepts on wireless and networking technologies. Recently, AWTL focus has shifted to next generation (6G) wireless networks and technologies, towards 2030.

Lab engineer for robot AI and 6G system development and integration - Leased Labor (18 months) 

Your mission

• Implement proofs of concept based on available 6G prototypes for onsite and remote demos
  
• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance applications using Python, C++, C# across a range of platforms
• Test and benchmarking of novel AI models for robot perception and control
  
• Management, administration, and improvement of Windows and Linux-based IT systems used in the 6G lab ensuring smooth operations, high availability, and security
  
• Implementation of ROS1/2-based robot control and perception functions connected with real robots and digital twins
  
• Implementation of use cases, execution of lab and field tests (lab/indoor/outdoor) with partners as part of the prototyping team
  
• Collaborate on code development using GitHub for version control, including branching, pull requests, and code reviews
  
• Development of GUI and applications, implementation of imaging solutions
  
• Cooperate closely with cross-functional teams and partners from industry and academia
  
• Mechanical assembly and processing of robots and wireless experimental systems

Your areas of expertise

• Bachelor’s or master's degree in electrical engineering, informatics, telecommunications, or a related field
  
• Experiences in programming language (Python, Java, C/C++, MATLAB, C#, bash, scripting…): Strong coding skills, with experience building scalable, efficient applications
• Solid understanding of Git, GitHub, branching strategies, and collaborative workflows
  
• In-depth experience managing and troubleshooting both Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS) and Windows Servers
  
• DevOps experience, including automation and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD)
  
• Experience with management of local area networks (LAN), servers, and other IT infrastructure.
  
• Good understanding of AI, machine learning, and familiarity with related tools for training and inference is a plus
  
• Fluent in written and spoken English and German language would be a plus
