Description

Reporting to the Vice President of Philanthropy, the Philanthropy Data Specialist is responsible for managing Children First’s donor database system. This includes, but is not limited to data entry, analysis, retrieval of information, systems interface maintenance, scheduled monitoring and reporting, training, and merchant services. The Philanthropy Data Specialist coordinates with the Data Consultant, Programs Data Specialist, Program, Philanthropy, and Operations Staff, and the leadership team to ensure cross-departmental data collaboration 

Requirements

This position is required to exercise judgment and discretion. The position assists the Philanthropy Department in fundraising, special events coordination, public relations, and provides administrative support to all fundraising initiatives and events. They will also promote the community image of Children First. Work is reviewed through regular coaching and feedback and annual evaluations with supervisor. 


A successful candidate will be proficient in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to Children First, including:

  • Skilled in maintaining accurate and up-to-date databases and records
  • Ability to generate reports, analyze trends and presentations based on data findings
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders
  • Communicate fluently in English (Spanish is desired)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling sensitive information
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of donor-based research and fundraising
  • Familiarity with data systems and visualization tools
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection regulations
  • Maintain ethics and privacy regarding all constituent information, including staff, donors, clients, volunteer, and community partners
  • Manage time, stress and constantly changing situations
  • Work cooperatively between staff and other departments
  • Collect, analyze, and present data with accurate reports and clear recommendations
  • Skilled user of Raiser’s Edge and Microsoft 365
  • Understand basic accounting concepts 
  • Manage Donor Software systems and Giving Platforms
  • Assisting in the stewardship of donor gifts
  • Collaborating within the Philanthropy department with board reporting, special projects, major and special events, and donor cultivation
  • Other duties as assigned

A successful candidate will meet the physical requirements and environmental conditions necessary to safely and effectively perform the required job duties, including: 

  • Reaches with hands and arms, stretches, crouches, and talks/hears to exchange information
  • ­Sitting for working at keyboard and desk, standing, driving for site visits, meetings, and events
  • ­Respond both physically and mentally to emergency or crisis situations
  • Experiences variability in temperature and environment
  • ­Interaction with children who are ill and/or possibly contagious
  • ­This position requires the ability to withstand strain and stress to meet deadlines and other pressures
  • ­Occasionally required to lift and carry materials for meetings and events
  • ­May require use of personal vehicle for official business travel 
  • ­Some evening and weekend work may be required for events

  Licenses/Certifications

  •  A bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, information systems, or a related area such as education or human services with a focus and experience with data analysis is required 
  • Minimum of three years of Data Systems management experience 
  • ­Three years of experience in a nonprofit environment (Blackbaud Raiser's Edge preferred)
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record – proof of auto insurance      within agency limits, or access to transportation 
  • ­Immediate/continued enrollment in the Criminal History Registry-Child Care Division 
  • ­Current Health Appraisal, updated every two (2) years 
  • Certification in First Aid and Adult/Child/Infant CPR, desired
